The solo_collatz version 4.07 application has been added for Linux 64-bit systems with NVidia and AMD GPUs. Please report any issues on the message board.

If these work OK, please let me know so I can create Intel versions as well as OSX versions.

Have you thought about doing Solo and regular Collatz on CPU? AVX has a nice speed up for many math products and maybe you can write just an AVX version. Yes this means you need an I7 second generation or better to crunch, but if the speed is good enough it could add a lot of crunching power. Plus now 4th generation will have AVX2 which may even add more speed.

mini_collatz, collatz, and solo_collatz all do the exact same thing. The only difference is that mini_collatz workunits are 1/8 the size of the others. The mini_collatz app was added so that CPUs could finish the workunit in a reasonable amount of time. When GPUs run mini_collatz, it puts a strain on the server because they finish quickly which means the server has to send 8 times as many mini WUs. That's why the collatz and solo WUs pay more -- incentive to run the longer ones if you can.

That all having been said, I have considered making an "mt" app for CPUs for collatz and solo collatz so people could run them 8 times faster on an i7. That's very easy with Intel or AMD OpenCL drivers. But, since BOINC doesn't check for OpenCL for CPUs (yet), it would have to be run as an anonymous app. Previous testing showed that OpenCL on the CPU run as fast as OpenMP apps so the drivers do a pretty good job in this case.
