Message 16900 - Posted: 21 Jun 2013, 13:45:37 UTC - in response to Message 16891.

If all of the applications do the same thing, except with different work sizes, the badges should be based on total credit.

Definitely.
As I don't know whether they are doing the same science or not, I'd say: Only differentiate between the apps if they crunch something different. If they do the same science, it should be the same badge.

Same science. Just different size for mini and more self validation for solo.

Is it finalized then? Based on credit.

If so I'll add to my database. Can build them direct from the data I already hold.

I'm game. On which pages should they be visible?

On http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/home.php in `Computing and credit` chapter between `Recent average credit` and `Pending credit`
On http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/show_user.php?userid=14470 between `Recent average credit` and `Computers`
On http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/team_members.php?teamid=578 for every member with badge after `Name`

Done.

Yes, using the circular badges with the numbers from the first post.

Need to add 'title' tag to image:
<img src="img/badge_100K.png" alt="badge_100K.png" title="Collatz Bronze: More than 100,000 credits (@credit)"/>

Major (actual) badge must replace all previous badges (maybe).

Asteroids@Home do a similar thing in that you 'accumulate' the badges instead of getting only one.

I think I prefer just one as well, but everyone has different tastes.

I added it to my banner as cumulative which you can see here. Works for all users.

Lots of this. Having to Google what the badges are for is very inconcenient.

Gone fishing. When I get back tomorrow, I'll fix the titles.

FWIW - I've been solely with WCG since 2008 for the purpose of helping to fight cancer, but when they completed the GPU project without a replacement GPU project, I started looking for somewhere to get WUs for my GPUs.

That is when I was bitten by the badge bug. While I have now max'ed out the WCG badges to Sapphire (except for the completed or intermittent projects), I am now on the hunt for new badges until WCG begins new projects (meaning new badges). I'm not going to hold my breath until that happens.

I will be reconfiguring my computers for acquire your badges (whichever style you settle on). I have noticed that badges have an affect of attracting attention. "Where did you get that badge from." Since the bottom line is to get more computers crunching for a given cause, what better method than to use peoples greed. I admit it. I want your badges on my banner.

Question: Do you have a URL defining your Badges and their credit value?

That wasn't the answer, the question was about your sig.
It's possible to do this on Sebastiens sig site under Customize your signature

Hi everybody,

a question about the Community Badge (level of RAC):
Will it stay in my profile once I gained it, or will it leave again when I do not meet the criteria anymore ?

Will they be exported one day to the stats pages ?

Thanks for info.

regards
Markus

The Collatz specific badges are not ever taken away as they are based upon total credit. The default BOINC badges -- the ones that look like ribbons -- are based on percentages and will come and go depending upon whether you meet the criteria.

The signature is from the stats pages at FreeDC which has show the badges for a number of years. If you want them on some other stats site you should probably ask at your favorite stats site. The projects don't control what the stats sites publish.
