A.M., I'm seeing that both the WUs you listed have been validated and credit has been awarded for them. I'm having the same issue you were, so this is encouraging. Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon.

Splendid. Looks like about half to 1/3 of the affected tasks have since been validated. Good to know that the backlog is being chewed through.

All my WUs are uploaded successfully and waiting for the validator, even if the deadline was exceeded. New WUs are crunching.

Now it seems all to be ok.

Is the validator not working, or just buried under backlog? I have several tasks that seem like they should be validating, but are not:

http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/result.php?resultid=143475319
http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/result.php?resultid=143473902

I noticed that the second one has been re-sent to another computer. Both of these examples were sent to me well before the crash.

Both validated so must have been the backlog.

Just for clarification, many of us are waiting on validation, but many of us are also running solo_collatz. From what I understand, those running solo are doing their own validation. What is the role of the validation server?

Also, for anyone still having upload/new WU issues, cancelling old WUs trying to upload and then resetting the project seems to be working. This will get new WUs flowing again.

After upload:
13 task <Valid>
12 task <Error> (Timed out - no response)
112 task <Validation pending>

As a lot of WUs are sent again because of missed deadline, it's good if those with their computers in direct access could update the project from time to time manually, as a lot of the new WUs are superfluous once the original cruncher reports them. That could take some time because of the increasing time delay after contacts in vain.

I've got 13 WUs cancelled by the server because they were already validated. It would be a shame to waste the crunchtime for useless recrunching of old WUs.

When do you think it would be fine to restart the stats-XML generator? Do you prefer to wait until after the weekend and everything's a bit smoothed out?

Looks like the admins have stopped creating new work until most of the old work is turned in so they can do some clean up and assessment of the situation (or that's how I am perceiving it).

Anyone else getting persistent "download failure" on multiple WUs? I started getting that on both machines a few hours ago.

It feels like it starts downloading then times out the download too quickly. Its on both machines so I don't *think* its a local problem this end.

In 12 mins one machine runs dry, the very few WUs that do start to download crash out within 10 secs citing "download failure"

EDIT:
Runs dry in 3 mins. Error message is:

27/07/2013 18:21:42 | Collatz Conjecture | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
27/07/2013 18:21:42 | Collatz Conjecture | Project has no tasks available

EDIT2:
Ran dry 1 min ago, 1838 UTC. None of the three Collatz Projects will download. All start, then within seconds they stop with the message "Download Failure"

I'm also having this problem. Downloads worked on well at the beginning but none of the WUs downloaded successfully afterwards. Tried to reattach to the project. The exe and dll files downloaded but the WU failed.
One of the failed WUs: http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/result.php?resultid=143610791. The workunit has already had 5 failed download attempts. So I think it is not my fault.

Same here, and interestingly I should get collatz and solo as well despite this:
Run only the selected applications
collatz: no
mini_collatz: yes
solo_collatz: no

My existing work units seemed to go up fine, but when my system goes to download new work units, it is reporting "Permanent HTTP error" for each attempt.

There is not enough time being given for the download - and 90% of a batch times out before completion
