I had to do an update on the preference page to recieve only collatz work again.
I might have lost som wu's, that doesn't matter.
It looks like all is working again.

If this persists I'm guessing WUs will start being server dropped due to "too many errors"

With such a time gap over problem to an "I'm on it" statement, I suspect he is off on one of his weekend trips, and unaware of the problem. On past form he will be back tonight Pacific time, and will no doubt attack the problem then.

Until then take a rain cheque and do those Meditation exercises you have been promising yourself :)

Thanks to TRuEQ & TuVaLu. I checked my Computing Preference. I was using School and it was wiped clean. I do not know yet if this will resolve anything for me, but it couldn't have hurt to reset the values.

Again, thanks TRuEQ & TuVaLu for putting me on the trail.

I will repost with the results shortly.

Looks like the admins have stopped creating new work until most of the old work is turned in so they can do some clean up and assessment of the situation (or that's how I am perceiving it).

Nope. The problem is that the work generators are attempting to create WUs that already exist because the database is out of sync with the file system. I need to change the code in the work generators so that if the file already exists, it doesn't attempt to re-create it. Hopefully, that won't take too terribly long.

Just for clarification, many of us are waiting on validation, but many of us are also running solo_collatz. From what I understand, those running solo are doing their own validation. What is the role of the validation server?

The output is still checked to make sure it is readable. If it checks out, then credit is granted. Without the validator, there would be no credit.

Something or someone is SLOWLY cleaning up the errors. My errors have gone from >1200 to <450 in about 8 hours. This is probably not the normal maintenance programs. The project is not handing out new work but is accepting whatever I had cached. The total project w/u's in process has halved in the last 24 hours.

I think this is Slicker's way of cleaning up the mess.

Great work Slicker.

Work creators turned back on. The download error is worse than before. Almost all w/u downloads failing.

When the project was backed up from the old server and restored to the new one, instead of creating the symbolic links, it copied the contents of the download and stats folders.

In other words, the downloads worked so long as the WU existed on the old server. I removed the duplicate folders and created symbolic links instead. So, the stats now show up properly and the new WUs can be downloaded.
