Time to dust off the grow lights and think Spring, winning!

Going by the news in South West England, it's not so much spring, as sprung a leak.

"My wife said that she always wanted to see what Venice looked like. So this weekend I'm taking her to Somerset." ba-dum tish!

I'll get my coat...

Find dry land yet?

Message 18644 - Posted: 18 Feb 2014, 11:51:43 UTC - in response to Message 18579.

I got another dusting overnight, just enough to cover the roads, driveways and sidewalks and make a mess, but not nearly enough to shovel. The weatherman is predicting rising temps all week, with later on today being near 50F!! Friday's high temps could hit the low 60's before dropping back down into the 40's again due to another cold front coming my way AGAIN!!

We've had rain. And more rain. And then some rain. A bit of drizzle, then a downpour to make up. Then back to rain.

But at least it was just about still daylight when I left work at 5:25 today, so spring is coming.

Yes Spring IS coming, I just wish it would speed up a bit! By Friday though I should be in the low 60's for a little bit of the day, then I am right back down into the mid 40's for the weekend. Come next week though they are saying ANOTHER snow storm is coming, it's too early to tell how much I will get but apparently the Polar Vortex is coming my way for another visit again!!

Remind me, please, what part of the world are you in? Well, I know it's the USA from your profile, but what — crikey, what do you call counties over there? Oh yeah, I remember — what state are you in?

And when I say 'what state are you in?', I don't mean like "Drunk as a skunk but still erect and damned handsome, considering what I've been through". I mean geographically.

Rut Roh another one on its way ...... :)

We tend to get your storms second-hand a week or so later, fortunately most snow has gone by the time it gets here, I would hate the snow storms you guys have had to suffer this year ....

..... you get your revenge tho .... we drown instead by the time it gets here rofl :)

I am in Virginia, the Northern part, about 30 miles South of Washington DC. SwiftMallard is in Minnesota which is much nearer the Canadian border then I am.

We live in central Illinois. Last Friday had four more inches of snow on top of the twelve existing. Monday brought ice storm and thunder snow, 3 more inches. Now the big thaw, and Thursday near sixty with strong thunderstorms, hello flooding. Back to the freezer Saturday and Monday with more snow. Sounds like everybody is having problems.

Have you ever watched corn grow taller then a man from the time of planting until 4 to 6 weeks later? It is a sight to behold and once you do you will put up with almost anything to keep seeing it! Checklist gets to see that EVERY year!! My wifes uncle used to say "knee high by the 4th of July" as a gauge of how well your corn was growing. If the corn today isn't taller then head high by the 4th of July now, you are behind and won't get the best price come harvest time.

Discovered today that snowmobile trails are not necessarily good to run a SxS on when there is 2' of snow on the ground. That I am not digging it out proves that a) the honda pioneer rocks and b) I'm winning!

I discovered, quite some years ago, that when you have a choice of setting your tyres in the fresh snow on the road, or on the tracks made in the snow by earlier vehicles, that ready-made tracks are lined with crushed ice and is a bit slippy whereas fresh snow gives much more grip.

Until you get to old ice hidden by fresh snow.

That really was an exciting winter, commuting 70 miles a day by motorbike.
