Message 18425 - Posted: 10 Feb 2014, 6:05:56 UTC - in response to Message 18422.

Thanks. That helped a little. I created a new version 6.05 which I hope will now return the actual reason why it doesn't want to compile the kernel. I purposely put a bug in the kernel (only while testing) and the build log showed the error on Mountain Lion so I hope it will work the same on Mavericks. I don't expect it work run, but I hope it will at least print out the actual error message now.

Here you go, a 6.05 task:

Stderr output

The good news is that other OpenCL applications run into the "OpenCL Warning : clBuildProgram failed: could not build program for" error. The bad news is that no one has a solution and most agree that it is a bug in Apple's OpenCL implementation. I'll try getting Mavericks up and running and once I can duplicate the problem, I can attempt to use trial and error to figure out what is causing the build to fail.

There is good news and bad news. The good news is that my Mac now dual boots between Mountain Lion and Mavericks.

The bad news is that the collatz OS X OpenCL app (the one that also runs on Mtn Lion) runs fine on Mavericks when using my nVidia GPU. So, it looks like the OpenCL build problem is limited to the Apple AMD driver and I can't duplicate the error.

Is there anything I can do to help? I could give you access to one of my machines if that would help. Heck, since it's a mac mini, I could just loan you one.
