What is wrong is that the BOINC developers decided that any WU that is aborted or cancelled, etc. deserves higher priority access. Each time it gets resent the deadline gets shortened. So, finish it if you can. If not, abort it and I'll have to manually re-create it.

This is something that was intended to make it quicker for those projects that use quorums to grant credits for the 1st person to return a unit to get their credit sooner if the 2nd person aborts the unit, or it times out on them. BUT it seems to me they could have given the projects the ability to adjust that if they chose too. Many years ago the programmers played with the idea of only sending the resends to those pc's that were consistently returning units within 24 hours, I guess that didn't make it's way into this setting.

There are also projects like Milkyway which need to get the results back in order to generate more workunits. For them, it makes sense to raise the priority when it gets resent by shortening the deadline. For projects such as PrimeGrid and Collatz where the WUs have no relation to each other, the feature is just annoying. That it got to the point where BOINC only allowed 9 minutes is proof that the feature doesn't even work properly.
