Hello,

here i got an old E6750 , and with no furver installation of any drivers, this cpu supports Intel OpenCL crunshing. It crunshes with 2 cpus.

Great show, but i am using a Quad i5 , and there is no OpenCL CPU support enabled.

What have i to do to run this quad with OpenCL CPU tasks ?

Greetings.

Intel also has an OpenCL for CPU driver:
https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/opencl-drivers

as well as an OpenCL SDK:
https://software.intel.com/en-us/vcsource/tools/opencl-sdk

If you have an Intel CPU, it is probably faster than the AMD version. However, AMD works with more types of CPUs including older Intel CPUs that Intel does not support. I believe AMD's OpenCL driver only requires SSE4 support whereas Intel only supports Core 2 Duo and later processors, and not even all of those.

I have a question...

The OpenCL Nvidia tasks seem to be substantially slower than the CUDA55 tasks and also, OpenCL seems to use a ton more CPU time...

Is this because it's relatively new and not really optimized yet? Or do you think OpenCL will always be slower and never catch up?

Thsnks!

Nvidia will always favor cuda. OpenCL is a layer on top of cuda and now that and dropped cal, nvidia has no proprietary competition.
