Hello Everyone,
I currently have an AMD 7950 GPU that is crunching slower than expected - at the rate of 17 hours / Large Task. I suspect this may be because I haven't allocated a CPU core to it, because I am unsure of how to do that - does anyone have information on how I would go about doing that.

Yes that very well could be the case, go into the Boinc Manager, in Win7 down by the clock click the up arrow then either double click it, or right click it and then left click open Boinc Manager. Once open go to Tools, computing preferences, then click on the processor usage tab. On the 2nd line UP from the bottom it says "On multiprocessor systems, use at most [] percent of the processors(zero means no restriction)"...to reserve one cpu core for the gpu change the number inside the box to 99 and then click the ok box at the bottom of that page. One of your currently running cpu units should switch to 'waiting to run' and your gpu should speed up to full power.

Hello all,

I've just restarted my old rosetta@home account beside collatz and sometimes all the 4 cores are crunching rosetta only. My set is 100% CPU usage on multiprocessors system (if I decrease the setting, only 3 cores are crunching but all rosetta).

How can I set the different projects priority so the GPU won't be idle because of rosetta WUs? I think the rosetta project doesn't have any app_info or app_config files so I'm clueless.

Thanks for the help in advance.

One thing you might try is upgrading your version of Boinc on the 8300 quad core from 7.0.28 to 7.4.27, that should help it get more work since you don't have any right now at all on that machine. Then you could change the cpu setting to use at most 99% of them, thus leaving one cpu core free for the gpu to use.

Collatz, rosetta and BU running on the same host (not on 8300 quad), and now I found the solution. I wrote an app_config.xml for rosetta and limited running threads for 3.

<app_config>
<app>
<name>minirosetta</name>
<max_concurrent>3</max_concurrent>
</app>
</app_config>

Now I understand this 'app_info-app_config' thing is not for individual projects only, there are valid for all BOINC projects just you have to know the application's exact name.

So 1 core is always remaining free (from rosetta) and could do Collatz GPU and 2 BU WUs at the same time.
