I had Boinc on my Windows 7 computer and it ran fine. When I installed Windows 10 I had to reinstall Boinc and I was able to add all of my other Boinc apps but not collatz conjecture. It says it failed to add project.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem and if anyone has a fix.

Hello Mesmart,
Collatz has been unavailable lately, but is now back again. I had no trouble adding Collatz to my W10 machine :-)

I had issues a few days ago getting a headless linux box attached via a windows box. I get this error:

8/11/2015 10:50:01 PM | | Fetching configuration file from http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/get_project_config.php
8/11/2015 10:50:09 PM | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
8/11/2015 10:50:10 PM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.


I decided to attach it via boinctui and it attached fine!!

Fast forward 2 days, and once again I cannot attach Collatz to a windows 7 based computer via the window manager. So I configured that windows host to accept incoming connection via the headless box that has boinctui... and it attached fine.

The common denominator between the windows computers aside from windows 7/10 is I am using the new beta 7.6.6 client used to fix the errors on Milkyway.

Edit: I just installed the older 7.4.42 stable release on my laptop and tried to add the project, same issue as 7.6.6. I'm guessing something on the website not responding in a timely fashion for CC, as I can attach any other project fine.

Are there specific times of the day where it is unavailable? The server is down for a short time (20 minutes or less) every evening to do backups (real time don't work since the database and file system get out of whack and there are no BOINC tools to identify what's out of sync much less get things back in sync. There have been sporadic issues with the BOINC daemons not being able to connect to the database when backups are complete, but if you can post your issues, that's the same server responding to the connection requests so it isn't that the server is not available.

I have tired at multiple times of the day for over a week with no success. I have also uninstalled and re-installed. Tried to add it via the account manager and without using the account manager with no luck. Still got the error.

I would try manually attaching via cmd line

boinccmd --project_attach http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/ account_key
