Same problem for me. I tried to set up the project for new. I deleted the project and now I can not add it. I get the following messages:

Same for me.
Server status says everything's running.
After so many failures with collatz sieve, I'd stopped getting new tasks.
'Project reset' didn't help, so I tried 'detach/attach'. Can't attach...

What that happens, can you try the exact same URL in your browser and let me know what you get? It should be an XML document which contains the list of platforms supported by the project.

I had the same problem. But i was able to solve it.

Try the following:

1. Remove Collatz from Boinc.
2. Close Boinc.
3. Log In to your Collatz-Account on the Website.
4. Below your User-ID you can click to show your account-key. Click it.
5. On the site that appears you can read that you have to create a file called "account_boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz.xml" in the Data folder of Boinc. Do that. Without the "".
6. There is also written what you have to copy into the file.

Something like that:

<account>
<master_url>http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/</master_url>
<authenticator></authenticator>
</account>

Copy it from the site and paste it into the "account_boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz.xml". Don't forget to save.

7. Start Boinc and wait some seconds. Collatz should be added automatically.
8. Good Luck! ;-)

Is it possible that BOINC is trying to attach the the project using SSL and it fails due to the server certificate being expired? I can't renew the cert until 90 days after google determines the site is safe and because of the false positive on the trojan virus a while back, there's not much I can do other than wait another 10 days or so.

Anyone actually using HTC power to go? That's the only reason I added a cert but given the few number of Android crunchers and that only a subset of those are using HTC devices, I'm tempted to just remove the cert for now so everyone else can connect. What I find amusing is that if there is no cert, BOINC will then try http and still connect, but if it finds a certificate that is no longer valid, it won't switch to http and just fails instead.

Background: I didn't have Collatz on any of my computers, but wanted to add it as a project. Every time I tried to attach it through BOINC, it would fail.

What I did: I read the advice posted above on how to manually attach Collatz to the BOINC manager. Since I couldn't create an account through the manager, I did it on the website. I now have three computers running the project.

My problem: What I didn't take into consideration is that by creating my account through the website instead of through the manager, I ended up with a different cross-project ID. Now this project doesn't sync up with my others when looking at stats on sites like Free-DC, etc.

Sooooo... is there any way to change my cross-project ID for this project?

Thanks for any info.

Connect the computer that has the different CPID to both collatz and to several other projects where you don't have different CPIDs. Make sure they aren't suspended, etc. and I'm told that it should fix itself within a few days.

I'm having the same problem others are having while attempting to add Collatz. I am eager to add Collatz as I have built a new computer and want to run something besides Seti@home.

Try the second option: "to attach a computer to your account without using the BOINC Manager" from http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/weak_auth.php
