Hi there,

Just wondering if anybody else is using two dual GPU ATI cards to crunch Collatz ? Been fiddling with the setup for a week now and can't find the right configuration to have all 4 GPUs running. Boinc can see them without the problem and I have disabled Crossfire (between the cards) and ULPS, but whenever I start four jobs at the same time display driver crashes and jobs on GPUs 2 and 3 jam.

OS is windows 8.1, drivers the latest beta (15.8), also tried 15.7.1 official with the same result. PSU has 1600W so it should not be a power issue, and I'm not running any CPU jobs. Collatz is also the only project on the machine right now.

Thanks!

Nice result-RAC. If you get 2 000 000 per day--)
Price for NEW one is about 670 eu x2 =1340 eu = For two mil. per day with guaranty.

Right now I see on ebay two for $ 450-500. !!
Superb in price performance ratio. And if you have cheap energy so it's a winner.

For comparison: On the GPU grid you need 3 to 4 Nvidia GTX Ti. 670 Eu X 4=2680 Eu -))) https://www.compuland.de/product_info.php/6144MB-KFA2-GeForce-GTX-980-Ti-Aktiv-PCIe-3-0-x16--Retail-_1009118.html

https://www.gpugrid.net/top_hosts.php

petebe - 3x Nvidia 980 Ti - 2 666 000 day-RAC cca, but he uses win xp and nvidia modified driver so that the computer is not usable as a main home computer for common tasks or playing, work..etc... Safety, not at all.price for crunching is 2010 eu -))

Tsmialek- 2 460 000 day-rac cca..It is already better examples, use windows 8.1 better compatibility for home users . price for crunching is 2680 eu -))

The cheapest nvidia gtx 980 without Ti is for around 550 euros. An on daily output two million rac gotta have at least the fourth..
Or more computers is more money..

So winner is Ati . 1000 $ Vs Eu 2000+ eu Is BiiiiG difference

It makes a huge difference and benefit through the cold winter.
For some motherboard must be instaled other bios or specific procedure for the introduction of two 295 x2....

What does your cc_config.sys file have in it? Do you have any other config files for here? I see you have also crunched for Einstein in the past does the same thing happen there?

In the cc_config.xml, make sure you have <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> otherwise BOINC may just use the fastest.

You can also enable cpu_sched_debug and coproc_debug to show more information in the BOINC event log which may help track why the other GPUs are being ignored.

Sorry, been away for awhile.

app_config.xml

<app>
<name>large_collatz</name>
<max_concurrent>2</max_concurrent>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>1</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>1</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>

Had to add that max_concurrent to keep the system running, leaving that out causes driver to crash as it tries to use all 4 GPUs. I have tested use_all_gpus option but that did not make a difference. Will test the debug options next.

Changed to Sieve WU's but only get computation errors, maybe I need to reset the project.

Thanks for the tips!

Ps. That 2.000.000+ credits came from one card, hope to get both running at some point :-)

Don't know the reason, but now it's working! Moved the other card to a new PCI slot and then back. GPU ids changed and now everything works as it's supposed to, although if I run all 4 GPUs the one with monitor connected was generating error on Einstein, have not tried it yet with Collatz but will soon when it gets colder outside and I need more heat in the house :-)

Are you using "dummy plugs" on the gpu's that do not have a monitor attached?

Yes.

Actually just tried to add the 4th GPU in the action, but all the WUs were stopped after few seconds with OpenCL error, so I guess the driver does not quite handle it right. But that's ok I get enough heat out of the three :-)

...it turned out to be a broken card, I'm trying to get it replaced as it's still under warranty.
