Installed both runtimes from thme main page ling, and it's still fails after start. Oh well, will check back a few months later if you actually finish it...


Edit your config and change use threads=6 and also sieve_size=24.
An HD4600 likely can't handle a large sieve size or a large workgroup (threads) size.

Install the latest Visual Studio C++ runtime library (both 32 and 64 bit). Between version 1.20 and version 1.21 Microsoft updated the C++ runtime and included it in VS2012 update 4.

I deprecated the solo_collatz and large_collatz applications
So I enabled sieve on my Linux system with an AMD 6670 GPU (which is a single-precision GPU).

If the sieve application fails immediately after it starts...
It did, but this being Linux it's not a MS Vidual C++ runtime issue...

Any ideas? the solo_collatz ran without issue.


Single precision, double precision, Collatz does not care because it uses integers.

To be honest, I've never seen an error like that ever before. It looks like the app was compiled with an optimization that your computer can't handle. Which specific Linux distro and version are you using?

This is on Linux Mint 17.2 (based on Ubuntu 14.04).
The fglrx driver is 14.10 (or 14.4.rev2...)

After moving to Collatz Sieve, I get constant error message and can't process any of the jobs sent. I've isntalled Visual studio 2012 c++ runtime but nothing has changed, I still keep receiving the error. Had to switch to another projects meanwhile. Hope to come back someday soon, when the problem get fixed or I will be able to find a solution to it.

Install 2013 C++ runtime 32/64 bit. If your running Windows 10 then there is no need as it is install as part of the OS. Good luck as these WU wont run on win 10 as well.

Slicker,

1. The Sieve Work Generator seems to be offline ~50% of the time these days. Is this by design or is it a fixable problem?

2. Also the website has been extremely sluggish the past couple of days (e.g., I've been trying without success to update the Server Status for the past 25 minutes). Is this due to the ongoing battle with your ISP that you've discussed elsewhere in this forum?

3. The validator backlog is approaching 4000.

Bearing in mind that cpus and gpus - both large and small - can run the sieve, a choice of large, solo and mini tasks would be good for all.
Elsewhere I've seen task sizes tailored automatically to the processing unit's capabilities - cool !

I've gone from 20000-30000 second per WU to 80-120 seconds per WU. So I expect the validator is having a hard time keeping up.

I did similar, ran Repair for both 32 & 64, and all OK afterwards

Hope Repair does same for you.....

I had the same problem on one box. try bumping up the resource share to 50,000
