Also the ongoing SSL handling issue stops new workstations from being added.

Just tried again with one workstation.

I seem to remember someone saying you can install Boinc then copy over your directory from another pc that's already attached and it will work, but don't quote me on the exact how. I've never tried it.

Anyone working on fixing the SSL?

It's a one man show here so if anyone is it's Slicker the Admin. It's also early November and that often means hunting season for him.

Hi,
i have the same problem with the certificate!
Aren't there other admins to do the work instaed of Jon?

Since 28.10. I can not register a new computer and Collatz does not sent statistics to BOINCstats!

regards
Veit

No certificate then BoincStats won't connect and get the stats. Projects don't 'send' the data, the stats sites connect and 'download' the data themselves. The projects just make the stats available in a standard format that is easily downloaded. All the other stats sites are still downloading the data, as far as I know BoincStats is the only one not doing it right now. For example here's me this morning at FreeDC:

Hi,

I too cannot add the project collatz to BAM (Boincstats).

"No response from project"

Also, the SSL problem is still there, and if you follow the link from Boincstats you get the failed SSL, so most decent browsers / AntiVirus tell you to avoid going to the site.

And now Google is saying about Collatz site in Google Search:

"This site may have been hacked.."

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=collatz+conjecture+boinc

Any idea of a timeline on when you would expect to get this fixed?

Thanks

Chris

It appears that the project is back after a two day hiatus.

However the certificate issue still persists.

New computers can not be added.

Perhaps that is part of the update process.

Still yields failed to add project for a new workstation.

Might be that the update needs to propagate for the loop to close.

That was me, it is one way to get around the failure to re-attach an old host.

You have a machine that is currently running and one that for some reason has detached from the program, First, delete the old Boinc data directory on the detached machine, copy your Boinc data directory from the running machine to the detached machine, {C:\Program Data\Boinc} then fire up Boinc.

Usually it kills off the dupe WU's from the running machine and downloads a new batch.

But it is hit or miss, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Best outcome is for Jon to fix it. But yes this is hunting season, and we will just have to wait.

It has happened before, will probably happen again.

And the web pages may be up and running, but the servers are still resetting the update clock to 24 hours on all my machines.

Running Moo in place of Collatz at this time.

I agree, somthing's wrong as the BOINC manager will not down-load any new work following a fresh install on one of my machines which has previously been
running for a few years on this project :(

My machines aren't currently getting any Collatz work at all, new install or not.

Hi,

I am still not able to add project via client, or link my account to Collatz via Boincstats BAM.

Bam says "No response from project".

Client says "Failed to add project. Please try again later".

Thanks

Extended power outage. Firewall didn't restart properly. The server's SSL certificate had also expired. I updated that last evening after restarting the firewall. If the client cached the non-ssl URL and then later tried using the non-expired SSL, that would likely be the problem. Worst case scenario, detach, clear the project data folder, and re-attach. Don't sweat the abandoned WUs as there are already 600K WUs that all failed to download properly that I will need to re-issue.

Didn't work for me. Detach and re-attach threw an error 184 according to BoincTasks. Tried it on Blackhawk 1.

Also, reset isn't working. Gives me that 24 hour update lockout. on all machines except Haf II. which has gotten work, with a number of D-load errors on WU. Also, I don't know yet if they are uploading properly.

As you know all six of my machines are long time collatz runners.

Problems are not resolved as of yet.

Update:

Just checked HAF II, they are not uploading.

Client has yet to add Collatz project, hence no project data folder.

Event log shows:

07/11/2016 19:32:03 | | Fetching configuration file from https://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/get_project_config.php
07/11/2016 19:32:19 | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
07/11/2016 19:32:21 | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

However, get_project_config.php is available (xml file).

Any idea's?

Thanks

Changing the URL to non-SSL in the AddProject Client Dialogbox worked for the first part eg New / Existing member.

But then when you entered details, it failed with the same error:

"Failed to add project. Please try later.."
