I understand that this project is a one man operation and realize that sometimes things go awry. As a result I understand why the project may be down for many hours (sometimes more than a day). However, when the system goes down like yesterday, I almost ran out of work units despite having my preferences set to 3 days of work units with an additional 10 days requested. Just as I am sure you sometimes grow tired of maintaining this project, I too grow tired to having to babysit my system to ensure I am not out of work units and wasting electricity and CPU cycles due to not having any work units available to process. Is there something you or I can do to increase my supply of work units?

If you are worried about idling then I think the best course of action is to have backup projects. Every project will experience issue or downtime.

Right, I do have backup projects, see my signature! What I am objecting to is having to spend my time baby sitting the system to turn on the backup projects when necessary. Instead if we would receive adequate WUs, we would not have to spend as much time babysitting the system.

Hello, I think the best would be if the admin will alllow more than the 50 wus per gpus ..
admin, can you rise the limit from 50 to 100 or 150 wu x gpu? So even if the project is down, we still have work and wus to process..
i hope is possible..

If you setup your backup projects with a zero resource share then they only get work when your primary project is down, no more babysitting. The zero resource share also means they only get enough work to keep your gpu busy, typically one unit at a time, then it will check here and if no work is available Boinc will get one more unit from your back up project, etc, etc. As soon as Collatz is back up your cache will be filled and your backup project will go back to being idle again.

On powerful gpus the default amount of 50 wus are generally crunched in some hours.. it would be nice to rise that value ... admin can u?
