Message 22877 - Posted: 24 Aug 2016, 10:08:01 UTC

At this time near all calculs (80%) are finished with error. I am not looking regular to results but in past my PC was working a lot for this project

I have not change anything in hard or system. I couldn't get new driver for this GPU (impossible for this ATI FirePro V5800 (FireGL V) and Windows 7, probably a bit too old. I have recent boinc client.

Is there an explanation and something to do ?

Thanks

Yes I can thanks!

I don't know unless you could be missing this:
Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package for 32bit. You can get it here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555

It is installed and not modified from 2014 (Windows said !).

My version is a bit more recent 10.0.40219 than the Microsoft download center 10.0.30219. And tentative to install failed with a message that a later version is already installed

The only thing i could do is to reinstall after uninstalling. I hope it don't get any effect on another soft needing this version -> I done with the version of official downloadcenter.

Just for understanding (i am surely dummy) : where i could find the information on the redistributable package missing for Collatz and is it so explicit ?

Thank's

No I found it another projects webpage saying that it could be the reason behind people not getting units, I was honestly reaching for straws. I too hope nothing got screwed up by you uninstalling the newer version!!!!! I have multiple versions on one of my pc's, no idea why but they are there!!

Looking myself to error report and i could see :
(unknown error) - exit code -529697949 (0xe06d7363) after a large amount of time spent

It seems to be an OutOfMemory for the CUDA and depending on the project a problem of C++ exception and/or design of the application;

All says itsnt a problem of the PC.
I find something like that in the forum http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/forum_thread.php?id=1331&postid=21505 but not understand all

Does the developper of collatz respond in the forum ?

Sounds reasonable to me.

The errors I see are out of memory errors. So, the WUs are running, but not completing. If they error out immediately after starting without writing anything to the log (e.g. "Collatz Conjecture Sieve 1.21 Windows x86_64 for OpenCL") then it would be a runtime C++ version issue. Because it does log, the runtime is not the issue.

So... An older HD57xx/67xx GPU probably doesn't have much memory. While there is 24GB of system RAM, the sieve apps use a log of GPU ram as well. Try using a much smaller sieve size (20 or less), 64 threads, and a lookup table size of 10 or 12.

I hope i do what it is expected.

I create this line in the the file "collatz_sieve_1.21_windows_x86_64__opencl_amd_gpu.config"

threads=64
lut_size=10
sieve_size=20

without understanding anything !

The calculation continues to stop with errors, apparently only those using GPU "Collatz Sieve v1.21 (opencl_amd_gpu)". Now Collatz Sieve v1.20 finish without error. I have check drivers, C++ redistributable version, looking on this forum

Sometime i try new WU, and hope that the problem is resolved, but it continues without any way to solve, and no respons. And so i stop the application for a new time.

Other application using this old GPU worked well, and i don't know why this one stop working.

Check your hard drive for cross linked files.
Right Click on it> Properties>Tools>Check and do a complete check with a reboot typically.
If running Windows 10 just scan

Then I would reboot to clear ram. Memory errors can also happen if the Runtime is hosed.

Just completing, now 3 tasks "Collatz Sieve v1.20" have finished with errors after more than 44 hour each of CPU spent.

I will verify if there are bugs on my disks (cross link) but probably not on this configuration.

And the error is an "Out of memory" for a station with 24 Go of memory !

0xe06d7363 is related to a C Framework call at the address you stated in memory. It looks like a NULL pointer to that memory point. Check to see if all your errors are in that same memory range if so first check hard drive and next re-install the C runtime. I would next look at possible ram being the issue - try removing a set of RAM as you could have a interleave issue on a ram module.
