Message 23992 - Posted: 10 May 2017, 18:32:38 UTC

I am trying to run Intel GPU tasks for Collatz Conjecture, without success. The task runs for 2 or 3 seconds, then the task quits with an "Error while computing" message.

I am running:
- Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit, with an Intel i5-7200U processor
- Intel HD Graphics 620, with device version OpenCL 2.1 and driver version 21.20.16.4574
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable x86 and x64, version 11.0.61030
(For other applications, I also have C++ 2010 and 2015 installed, both x86 and x64).
- Intel SDK for Open CL Applications 2016 R3 for Windows, version 6.3.0.1904

Intel GPU Tasks are running without problems for Einstein and SETI. Why are they not running for Collatz Conjecture?

I have a similar Intel GPU setup and only had problems with it before I updated all the drivers, etc. as you have. You might look through the Optimizing Collatz Sieve thread and try experimenting with cc_config.xml file settings. Otherwise, just wait for Slicker to respond.

EDIT: Your Stderr files contains the following error messages:

<built-in>:1:9: error: '__FINITE_MATH_ONLY__' macro redefined
<built-in>:265:9: note: previous definition is here

clBuildProgram() failed with error (-11)
Error: (-11)Program build failure at 1163 of SetupOpenCL

Reinstall the C run times again. The link is on the main page. See if that helps as it is typically the issue.

I run an INTEL Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 (6512MB) OpenCL: 2.00 on windows 10 x64

I also get comp errors with that exact err message in Stderr file if I use any driver higher than 20.19.15.4444

Whenever I do an update (and the driver gets caught and updates as well) I have to restore the above driver and all's OK again

The driver is the key. I asked an Intel Tech I know and he said the older driver supports better some OPENCL commands. I would step back until you get it going. I'm using the same version 20.19.15.4444 on one system and it works great.

I am using the 21.20.16.4678 driver whql / win 10 64 with the same problem on I5 7600k
And the project no longer sends me a job for intel gpu
Seti works on the HD 630 without any problems.

20.19.15.4444 is the last driver I have seen that works properly if that helps. I have tried others and they simply fail within a few seconds.

Looks like OPENCL is failing to be seen. I would look for OPENCL and see if it is registered properly. Once you find it just register it

regsvr32 opencl.dll you may need to move (copy it) to c:\windows\system32 if not in that location or path the location like this: open CMD run as ADMIN first

regsvr32 <path>\opencl.dll

I would also look at the versions of duplicated opencl.dll files - you may have mutiple ones which would be bad if say X AMD/NV is looking at the wrong version or INTEL in this case. Remember the graphics drivers get hosed when a functional call is made and the wrong function is made. In this case OPENCL is calling the math calc to redirect to call the stream that JON from here (Collatz) has written. If this works please forward an email to Jon: jon@thesonntags.com

Thanks - Hope this helps and you get it working. If not Collatz may just not be ready with Intel 6.XX drivers.

I did it, but
DLL was loaded, but the DllUnregisterServer entry point was not found.
Other projects work so I'll wait for collatz to develop
Thanks for trying to help
