Welcome to the next installment of the game!!

Simple rules:
- Post in this thread, anything with legible words (ie one word posts don't count)
- Stay within the message board rules
- Empty posts are invalid towards winning
- You must wait for someone else to post before you can post again, any and all multiple posts are invalid towards winning
- Have FUN

Rules Subject to change at moderators discretion without notice.

The winner will be the last person that posted, when I have time to check the thread, after one of these events:
- A specific date and/or time occurs
- A specific number of posts have been made
- I get tired of ya'll nagging me who is the winner :)
- An event I have chosen occurs (doesn't occur)

Sorry there are no physical prizes, only the satisfaction you played and won. :)

GOOD LUCK!!!

Lots to report here. Bought a new iMac for my house about a month ago because my old one was gagging on my 40 GB Microsoft Office database (I send, receive, and save a huge amount of email). Guess what - that didn't help at all, probably because the magnetic HDD wasn't speedy enough to deal with all the reading and writing that MS Office was demanding. So, I went back to my tried-and-true solution - bought a 2009 MacPro 4,1 (Dual Quad Core Xeon - 8 physical cores and 16 virtual cores) from eBay and proceeded to upgrade it - 1 TB SSD, 2x 6 TB HDDs, 12 GB of RAM (until the 64 GB I ordered this weekend shows up), AMD HD 5870 GPU (until I have enough money for a better one), and an Edimax USB Wifi Dongle. So far, so good, with two caveats. (1) I have already determined that the USB WiFi dongle is not sufficient - the antenna is not very sensitive (duh!) and the data transfer is choked when I am pushing a lot of data across the USB bus (I have been moving my 4 TB iTunes library from an external HD to one of the internal HDDs). So, I am shopping for a PCI combo WiFi/Bluetooth card. (2) The ongoing incompatibility between C@H and AMD cards in Macs prevents me from using this rig as a C@H cruncher. So, it looks like this rig will have to crunch for Einstein, Seti, and Rosetta.

The two courses I am teaching this semester are populated by smart, engaged students who are eager to learn. And, finally, the Auburn Tigers scored a convincing 41-7 win over the Georgia State Eagles last night. Good time tailgating with friends before the game and my new seats in the corner of the lower bowl of Jordan-Hare stadium are SO much nicer than my old seats in the upper deck, even though my seats in the upper deck were on the 30 yard line. I grew to hate the climb to the upper deck and the amenities in the upper deck (rest rooms and concessions stands) don't compare to what we can access from the lower bowl. #WDE and happy Labor Day weekend!

Have you tried Xansons4cod.com yet for your gpu? I don't know if they support Mac's but they are a fairly new gpu project that give out workunits that finish much faster than they are predicted to finish.

Having students smart and eager to learn is key to having a good class, congratulations!!! And congratulations on getting your new seats too!!

As for your computer stuff you are way beyond what I do with my pc's, mine mostly just crunch.

Don't know why I don't get any. I added that other project and I get 1 GPU when I should get 2. Beats the hell out of me One day it just stopped working.

They did add another type of gpu workunits, old kind is done, do your settings only allow one kind? I'm doing this kind: Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1 on GPUs v1.20 () windows_x86_64

I checked the box for new ones. i'll have to suspend that GPU project to see if I get any e@h.

Meanwhile, although the Browns played well, we still lost. Such is the life of a Browns fan.
