You can download CUDA for mac here:

http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cuda_3_0_downloads.html

I also have a problem with CUDA on my late 2008 Macbook Pro. I installed CUDA v.3.0.14, and tried to use CUDA to run collatz, but always says computation error. The messages says:

The Output file collatz_xxxx for task collatz_xxxx absent

I have tried many different tasks, but none of them worked. Can anyone help me?

To run Collatz, you will need to install both the CUDA toolkit and the CUDA drivers and a recent version of BOINC (v6.10.43 is the latest). Anything prior to 6.10.21 probably won't work without creating symbolic links to the CUDA libraries.

Hi,

I am having the same error as reported above. I have a 2010 Macbook Pro and have installed the CUDA 3.1 toolkit and 3.1 drivers. Still I can't use the GPU.

Any ideas?

Same issue with my MBP. I've got

BOINC 6.10.58
CUDA Driver 3.1.14
CUDA Toolkit 3.1

Got it. Downloaded correct binary from here http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/power_apps.php

Looks like 2.04 isn't working with CUDA 3.2.
I did a fresh install of 3.2 drivers and toolkit on my MBP, Einstein@Home CUDA is working just fine, but Collatz is immediately dying with a computation error and no output file...

Same here - I made the mistake of updating my cuda driver and toolkit to v3.2.17 and the WUs die as soon as they start.

Again, same thing. The Optimized version has poor and ineffective instructions. The result of following the instructions merely results in needing a reinstall of BOINC to correct permissions and continued WU failure.

CUDA Driver Version: 3.2.17
GPU Driver Version: 1.6.26.22 (256.00.15f04)
Operating System: Mac OS 10.6.6
Hardware: Macbook Pro3,1 with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz and GeForce 8600M GT 256MB

...copied from a post by GPV_FR in the News thread:

if that can help, I'm successfully running Collatz CUDA on my Mac (running Mac OS X 10.6.6) with these settings:
I have installed latest CUDA drivers from Nvidia (v3.2.17) and the cudatoolkit_3.0_macos_32.pkg (available here)
(I got errors when I installed latest CUDA Toolkit (v3.2.17) from Nvidia)

On the Optimized Applications page, there is a collatz_2.04_i686-apple-darwin__cuda31.zip (Mac OS 10.5+ running on an Intel 64-bit CPU) app.
These one is running with cudatoolkit_3.1_macos.pkg (available here)
