There is already a link on the home page (left side, near the top) which reads:

See the results gathered to date

When a WU arrives that beats the existing numbers, it gets added to the list. We've been in a lull the last several days. Most of the WUs are returning max steps in the 1,600 to 1,900 range lately. None have been higher than 2,134 although I haven't gone through yesterdays results yet.

Here's question for you.

Are their statistics to show what each of us have found so far or are you just keeping an overall top 10 list

There are 14 entries in the list so it would have to be a top 14 list ... unless I miscounted ... :)

{edit}

Of course I do like the fact that we know that the top line was found in only 25 days from now ... :)

It was changed, I don't know if "corrected" is the right word ... :)

If you look the number I listed, it is not in the list with the noted date, it is still in the list at September 28th as the date ...

That's because there haven't been any numbers recently that were higher than the ones already found.

It looks like the "slump" should be over soon since many of the WUs are returning numbers that are higher than the average from a week ago. A couple even high 2300+ so I went ahead and added them even though they didn't beat the top one so far.

How will be the results saved?

Only Number + Steps
or
Number + Steps + count of double Steps
or
Number + Steps + count of double Steps + each step?

And in which format?

txt or databank or ...

Would it be possible to create a graph with nodes. Where the nickname and finder of the Collatz number will be shown. Like on the sample pic of wikipedia?

Looks like we are in another lull. There have been no number with new high steps since November. The closest anyone has come has been to tie the 2nd highest number at 2452. There have been quite a few of those.

Ganga and Wang Solutions found a number with 2514 steps on 1/1/2010. Congrats on the new highest steps!

Question: When I click on a task id and it says

needed xxxx steps for xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

is that the number of steps being recorded is this top results list?

Just curious because I just started this project and was looking through my first few work units and I already found two that are more steps than some of the ones on the list. Am I reading the wrong spot or did I just get incredible lucky (there was one other that was higher than the 1904 that seemed to be the bottom of the current list).

Example: needed 2041 steps for 2362394999222430353486

More than some is not more than all. The list contains new highest steps found. Once in a while when I get bored I add one to the middle if it is a unique number and we haven't had a new high for a while, but the only reason I do that is to let people know that the results are being checked.

I'm kind of hoping we are nearing the end of the lull again since a couple results were returned the other day that exceeded 2400 steps with the largest at 2452 steps by ewooding and Ross. They didn't beat the highest steps, so they aren't listed on the highest steps page, but it could mean the steps are on an upward swing again.

I'm working on some additional stats pages which will show the highest steps found on each day as well as the top ones from the current day since the highest steps doesn't get surpassed very often. That will let all of you see how the trends are gong day to day. Think of it as being similar to the UOTD. We'll just have a HSOTD (high stepper of the day) in addition.

So it's not actually a list of the best results... but instead a list of results that have broken the previous record.

I understand that but the title of the page is misleading in that case.

Nice job PoorBoy and c0d1g0 on the new record of 2,589 steps! That, so far, is the largest jump in size from the previous high steps.
