Hi All

New to Collatz, just gently nosing around seeing whats what, did a couple of WUs as a trial yaddie yadda. Then up pops this little gem in BAM messages - repeats every 2-4 minutes if the project is not suspended.

30/08/2009 21:30:10 Collatz Conjecture [error] collatz_1251593755_13825_1: negative FLOPs left -1.#IND00

I am aware what it means - I think - total WUs held exceed some sort of capacity, although it defeats me what to be honest :) I am aware of the concept of FLOPS etc etc - but negative FLOPS ..... sounds a little painful :)

Anyone know what it is meant to be achieving? Is it a Collatz message or a BOINC one?

Regards
Zy

That's not -1 FLOPS. The full number there is "-1.#IND00". It's the way Windows encodes "indeterminate"; for example, the result of dividing zero by zero.

Similarly, 1.#INF is infinity.
