The Best Results section in the project's main page was updated last time: September 9, 2010 12:25:55 UTC

Any chance to have it updated somewhat more regularly, please? :)

I have checked the top results several times recently and I never see my name on it? My account home page shows:

2191 steps for 2382396209776041683707 on 2013-11-03 00:22:40

but I never saw my name and it should have made the all time high list (although it should be the last entry)???

2191 is less than 2651 which is the current record. Like with track and field, tying an old record does not get you into the record books. You have to beat the current record.

According to the recent high steps, the best steps to 2013-11-03 was 2302 which is also higher than 2191. The bottom half of that page shows the highest steps reported by day. If multiple people return the same # of steps for a given day, the first one to report it gets listed. Again, like in track and field, the first person to break the record is listed as holding the record. Others that tie the record don't get as much recognition.

That having been said, the overall best results to date page is manually updated so if someone thinks it needs to be updated as you did, I appreciate being asked to check it as I may have missed it. The reason that it is manual is because the database size grows every day that I can't keep every result online so it gets archived monthly.

Let me start out by saying I am NOT a programmer, but it seems to me that you could have a two or more part page, one for this months numbers and one for the now archived numbers. The current numbers could be brought into the page automatically from the current database and then one day prior to the archive automatically moved to the secondary part of the page, giving room for the new numbers to accumulate. Then periodically you could manually thin out the numbers that aren't needed. This would reduce your daily workload and only slightly increase your monthly workload.

Isn't that exactly what has been in place for quite some time?

http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/highest_steps.php shows the best results for this project (e.g. archived) and http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/high_steppers.php shows today's high steps as well as the best high steps for each of the last 30 days.

I think the Best Results page needs a bit of updating...

Finally!

It looks like there is a bug as it reports 2377 as the high steps for that day on the "Today's High Steps" page.
