The power failed for longer than the UPS can handle while I was at work causing the server to go crash. It should be back up now, but if you notice anything strange, please post a comment to this new item.

I know you are probably getting tremendous traffic this time of day...but "No Joy" here...

EDIT:as stated below by others... I'm back in the door as well; good job.

I have a Tech support issue where is the forum for that (OS Upgrade XP 32>> Win7 64 due to a HDD failure) ATI 4850 GPU works fine; but won't Crunch; OptApp?)?

You've been too darned reliable for the past year or so. I've been taking you for granted. A half hour before you came back up (I expected the worst) I added PG as a backup (with the resulting "welcome" tasks) on an HD 4630 AGP card. They'll take forever...sigh. See how desperate I get when you tug my security blanket away :)

Squeegee up all those bits off of the floor from the database and get them moving again. You really need to get a backup nuclear reactor or at least a wind farm in your backyard. Never mind what the neighbors may say, but if a crowd approaches your front door with torches you might want to eat out that night.

Thank god it was nothing else, considering the reliability of this project, i was beginning to worry that it's gone like dnetz, for *reasons beyond their administrators* , hope it will never happen though.

Dnetc MAY be back up one day but only after they get their pc's back from the cops! They were suspected of running a 'Pirate Bay' type of place but the investigation has expanded into other areas. They of course proclaim their innocence!

In the meantime it is almost summer time again and Collatz HAS had power supply issues in the past due to the summer weather, hopefully it will continue to do its stellar job of coming back up as soon as possible after any future outages. In the meantime there is word that Poem is working on a gpu application, that should relieve some of the load here. More projects means more choices, not that one is better than another! It is hard to beat the up time and reliability Collatz has had!!

DNETC was good while it lasted and I also hope it comes back. Interesting news about Poem as well. Agreed that we do need more GPU projects, and ATI ones at that.

Glad to see that Collatz is back up and running again, but why did the server crash? If the correct software was running, shouldn't the UPS have shut down the server properly?

I have a single large (and old) UPS which has only a single serial monitoring port and the Collatz box has no serial port. In fact, none of the machines in my office have a serial port. I'd have to move the UPS to the basement and run new lines from it upstairs as there's limited A/C in the basement.

I'd love to get a whole house UPS with a natural gas generator with automatic startup and cutover, but that there are about 20 other things not hobby related that take financial priority.

OK - looks like it was a short run problem -- about 10 minutes. Things seem fine now.
