Hi!

I'm new to Collatz, and trying to run some CUDA tasks, but I'm getting computation errors with all my Collatz tasks (both collatz and mini_collatz v2.02 (cuda) applications).

The error is always this: "cudaSafeCallNoSync() Runtime API error in file <collatz.cu>, line 448 : invalid argument".

What should I do to fix this?

I have both CUDA driver (4.0.50) and CUDA toolkit (4.0.17) installed on Mac OSX 10.7.2. My GPUs are: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (256 MB) and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT (512 MB).

Executables: collatz_2.02_x86_64-apple-darwin__cuda and mini_collatz_2.02_x86_64-apple-darwin__cuda.

e.g. task:
http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/result.php?resultid=103274731

The whole error message is:
"process exited with code 255 (0xff, -1)
Running Collatz Conjecture (3x+1) MAC OSX CUDA GPU application v2.02
based on version 1.2 by Gipsel
instructed by BOINC client to use device 1
Reading input file ... done.
Checking 824633720832 numbers starting with 2373223402178058365288
No checkpoint data found.
cudaSafeCallNoSync() Runtime API error in file <collatz.cu>, line 448 : invalid argument."

Cheers!

I downloaded collatz_2.06_x86_64-apple-darwin__cuda32 and managed to get it to run by creating a proper app_info.xml. That one seems to be running tasks fine so far. I'll give an update once a task gets completed.

Cheers!

Would you mind sharing your app info if it works?

Sorry, here you go :)

http://pastebin.com/KngZpRN2

(You can change the flops value to whatever is realistic for your GPU).

And if anyone couldn't find the optimized applications page, I got the 2.06 collatz application for Mac OSX from here:

To follow up on this: I got one task completed fine with the app_info I posted here. Though another task errored out (unspecified driver error), but that shall be the topic of another forum thread.
