macOS is faster, amazingly!

I have a mini itx build with an rx vega 64 running windows. It’s got an i7 2600 that I pinched from the wreckage of my old iMac. My RAC would have hit 6.2 million per day by now if tasks were getting validated. Tasks take 345 seconds or so with everything cranked up.

I also have a MacBook Pro with macOS with TB3 running an rx Vega 64 in an akitio node egpu enclosure. Agreed there is no overclocking ability, but head to head the the Darwin machine crunches units 35-40 seconds faster than the oc’d gpu in windows. This is also faster than the gtx 1080’s I’ve got on the same project.

I'm seeing a glimmer of action. All my WUs stats are zeroed except for in progress, invalid, and error WUs. Could be something happening soon.

That's interesting to hear. Looking at the host list again, there were only two other single 1080 hosts ahead of my 5,1 Mac Pros -- so they weren't sluggish -- but I know I could get a little more out of them if I turned them into Windows boxes.

Can't bring myself to do that though, as they need to enjoy their retirement with the same OS they've had since I bought them :)

Mine hasn't changed, did you get credits or do you just have zeros?

I believe what he meant is that his (and mine) valid task stats have been reset. Now my tasks stats page only shows the invalid and the erroneous (aborted) ones.

Your words give hope *pray*.. but is this a real sign that means something moves now to positive?

ONLY the Admin can answer that and personally I'd rather have him working on a fix than answering our questions. We KNOW things are changing so he must be doing SOMETHING!!

Valid WUs are removed automatically aren't they?

And as the server status has been "running" for days now without any interruption there is no sign of anybody doing anything at all.

We're all on board the Marie Collatz...

You are a 'negative nelly' aren't you!! The Server IS still running as you pointed out and some people ARE crunching workunits, those are GOOD THINGS!! If I saw your post alone and I was the Admin I would point to it and say 'it will be back up when I'm done and not before'. It's not like Collatz is going to end tomorrow or next week if everyone in the whole World crunched Collatz, it's a math problem and will take awhile to 'prove'.

I'm still trying to figure out why the WUs are getting marked as invalid when they are not.... I'm tempted to go back to the old validator source code and add in the new encryption as code since that worked OK. In the mean time, feel free to suspend or switch to other projects until I get this figured out.

Is it now safe to run this BOINC Project?

Does this answer your question?

4 more validator versions later and results are now being granted credit.

Now to figure out how to resubmit all the WUs to be re-validated so they can get credit. MySQL runs out of memory if I submit all but submitting 1k and a time could take me weeks and in the mean time, others may turn in a valid result negating the original even thought it was valid.
