Thank You

Ran a test of 3 work units and they processed and got credit. But it looks like I wiped out someone's invalid result. So I am going to wait to redirect my machines back. Hope you are able to work out a way to rerun the invalids.

4 more validator versions later and results are now being granted credit.

Now to figure out how to resubmit all the WUs to be re-validated so they can get credit. MySQL runs out of memory if I submit all but submitting 1k and a time could take me weeks and in the mean time, others may turn in a valid result negating the original even thought it was valid.

First of all, thank you for the hard work. As for resubmitting the WUs, why not a loop that queries the DB for a few WUs every second and send them to the validator instead of sending them all together? Its not the most elegant, but it might help with your memory problem.

Half the WUs i’ve just been sent have three successive validate errors — so the original host’s work has already been wiped out twice.

The project should be paused until fixed if this happens again.

Maybe, but Martin Orpen's message is accurate.

If you are not seeing this yet, I'm sure you will soon.

Have a look if you like to see if I am missing something. I dont have invalid tasks coming in as far as I can see.

My theory is that invalid tasks still occurring for some of you is becuase you did not update collatz in the Boinc client until today. In doing so, your computers reported finished tasks that were in the 'ready to report' state until today.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it would explain it. Any further invalids coming through?

You need to click on the Work Unit link, not the Task link.

This WU from your valids was processed and declared invalid on the 4th & 9th by two other hosts before you processed it:

FWIW, I have earned 4.7M credits in the past 10 hours, which is roughly equal to the rate (10M/day) that I was crunching prior to this problem. I have produced 2882 invalid results. I will report whether this number changes over the next few days. A decrease would suggest that my invalid results have reconsidered and accepted as valid. BTW, I have not produced any invalid results since 01:17 (UTC) on July 12.

~10M credits in the last 24 hours. Still have 2882 invalid results. Most recent invalid result submitted at 01:17 (UTC) on July 12.

A lot of volunteers have resumed crunching collatz. Because we don't know the status of the project until the admin gives an update, I have a few concerns/questions:

    - Is everything running as it should be?
    - Will I get credit for the invalid results?
    - Are my invalid results lost because volunteers are now processing them succesfully?

If there still is a problem I'm certain the admin is working hard to fix it, but right now half an hour of his time for an update would probably be much appreciated by most of us.

Basically, I'm asking "Slicker" to stop working on the problem for a minute, and give us an update.

He gave one a couple of day ago...he said the credits are now flowing like they used too but the MSQL program hangs if he tries to get too many of the misidentified credits granted at one time, he working on a faster and better way.

Bas and mikey, I have earned 56M credits in the last 120+ hours (~11M credits/day), so tasks are being distributed to the crunchers and valid results are being accepted. My account is down to 2748 invalid results (from 2882 ~36 hours ago), so I am guessing that some of my invalid results are being reconsidered and accepted as valid. That would also account for my recent productivity (~11M credits/day) being a bit higher than it was prior to the problems (~10M credits/day). I recommend that you too monitor your list of invalid results and see if that list becomes shorter!

Now down to 2715 invalid results. Slicker, if this is due to your efforts, thanks much!
