Overnight I dropped from 770th to 782nd ranking in the California results. Looking at the detail I see 12 new users, each > 1000000000 (1B) credits each, posted overnight! They aren't "new" users. Looks highly suspicious to me. Is someone gaming the system?

E.G.,

last month last week last day Rank Username Total credit Credit/day Credit/week Credit/month Average credit ...

31 29 29 52 ChelseaOilman 36,670,411,339 24,481,799,73 24,470,805,260 25,450,646,869 2,058,160,241

So, Total > 36B, Yesterdays credit >24B, Weeks credit a bit less than 24B, Average daily credit slightly more than 2B !!!

Looks very suspicious. There are 12 entries like this with yesterdays total credit > 1B. In this case, > 24B …

What is happening???

I know that GoofyxGrid made a mistake the other day and wiped out everyones credits but then yesterday they restored them all back to where they were, could that be it? Or are you talking about just here at Collatz?

Message 1921 - Posted: 30 Aug 2019, 23:23:59 UTC - in response to Message 1919.

I'm looking at the ranking in BOINC Combined:

https://www.boincstats.com/stats/-1/user/list/0/700/United%20States

Here's another one today:

Total Today Monthly Weekly Daily
new new 46002 764 ArizonaSquid 421,005,501 420,440,812 420,859,196 420,859,196 252,211 1

Listed as "new" ranked 764th, Total = 421,005,501, Total yesterday = 420,440,813 (almost all points in a single day! Very suspicious!),. Even more suspicious because the previous average rate/day = 252,211. Then suddenly yesterday, ArizonSquid acquired > 420M.

There are now 14 very suspicious entries in these past 2 days. 12 of them have > 1B credits cited on 8/28/19.

My initial perusal 2 days ago was because after years of slowly going up in ranking in overall BOINC Combined in USA, I was down 12 in 1 day, then down another 2 today. I inspected the entire ranking list (1 - 800) & found these "anomalies". 12 users with > 1 B credits in a single day, & this one today with 99.87% of total credits acquired yesterday.

The numbers are clearly phony: Monthly = Weekly accumulation =420,859,196 , Daily = 252211 ! Makes no sense.....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One last point: The user above appeared as a "new" user several days ago. It was deleted after 1 day, so I thought it was a clear phony entry, Admin caught it & deleted it immediately. Now we have 14 phony entries, surviving after 2 days.....

I mistyped in my original post on this topic. Report / rankings I'm citing are are in the USA BOINC Combined, not California.

There is a way to do that in a cc_config file by tricking Boinc into thinking your total credits are your daily credits but you don't get that extraordinary number jump every day, you just get your daily increase plus your total amount listed as your daily amount. So if they are increasing by only 1 Million per day that's not necessarily indicating a cheater just someone playing with their numbers making them look bigger than they really are. Now making a Billion credits in one day is not possible with todays projects unless you have access to a whole lot of pc's, like a business, and some very high end gpu's. Collatz is the highest paying gpu project and the highest daily credits I've is seen less than 100 Million credits per day and with DHEP closing the highest paying cpu project isn't even remotely close to that.

You might want to send a PM to the Admin Slicker here with your suspicions so he can get rid of any cheaters here at Collatz.

Are those 'new users' by chance on the Team GridCoin? If so that would explain it too as GridCoin pays GridCoins for your crunching. GridCoins are not worth very much, right now only worth $.00000046 of a Bitcoin. A Bitcoin is worth about $9.5kUS right now. BUT if you can crunch a Billion credits per day that's a much larger percentage of GrridCoins for you than anyone else.

Yesterday I went up 2,576,061,818 credits due to the GoofyxGrid problems, but today I am back down to my more normal 2,573,523 credits so far. Some days, when I crunch Collatz with most of my gpu's, I can be in the 30 to 40 million credits per day range.

Thanks, Mikey. I finally posted in Shoutbox -- just now. All the suspicious entries I saw were in the (1-800) ranking range in BOINCstats Combined for USA.

OK, I did a detailed perusual & found now 17 clearly bogus entries in rankings (1-800). Each has an easy-to-see daily jump > 1000 positions, total > 1B, and another oddity, each has a average daily increase cited at about 104K. E.G., Jubert at rank=328, last days increase = 1 297 497 769, daily average= 103 689 084. Total just slightly larger than yesterdays increase. Oddly, each of these 16 0f these17 entries has an average daily increase of approx. 104K, E.G., 104602187, 104066737, …

Ave. daily increase of approx. 104M, not 104K. Sorry for the typo. 104M is < .1% of the recent 1-day credit increase in these suspicious recent entries. And the recent 1-day increase is > 99.9% of the total credit. This is true of the 17 entries I just posted in Shoutbox for BOINCstats Combined.

Tracking now 17 suspicious entries. None of the 12 I spotted 2 days ago have reduced credit totals. All jumped > 1B in a single day. My rank remains reduced from 770 to 783 now. Together with 1000's of other users who lost ranking. 16 of the 17 I'm citing are in the top 300.

Thanks to the Admin of BOINCstats ( I assume ?), bogus entries have had their >1B 1day credit jumps erased & are back where (I presume) they belong! My USA ranking is now back to a reasonable level, 768, instead of the recent 1day drop to 785. 16 of the 17 bogus entries I saw were in the top 300 ranking. Some still have credits in the 100's of Billions & had essentially doubled their total credits in a single day. Gaming the system! I assume this was no accident.
