I have an AMD 5830 running the Windows v6.04 (ati14) work units. I believe previous iterations of the OpenCL apps were not as fast as the brooks/cal+ app. Is this still the case? Does it depend on the class of GPU?

My times are 2x longer comparing ver 6.04 vs 6.08, witch mean 2x less credit!

I have a problem with performance now. I have been offline for 4 weeks and when I started today I got the new 6.06 version (CUDA55). My runtimes are 2x longer comparing ver 6.04 vs 6.06.

Solo Collatz Conjecture v6.04 (cuda55) runtime 3,679.23 sec gpu 88.63
Solo Collatz Conjecture v6.06 (cuda55) runtime 7,739.31 sec gpu 145.17

Any hints for the reason?

You don't mention the values you are using in your config and you have hidden your computers so no one can see the values either. About all I can say at the moment is to read the optimize 6.xx apps threads.

It depends upon how you look at it. While the ATI14 app is probably still faster than the optimized OpenCL app, it also has the same bug that the OpenCL and CUDA apps had that causes it to fail one in a while. If the ATI14 app is 10% faster but has a 10% failure rate, the overall speed would be the same. Unfortunately, because of the kernel changes and because the Brook+ compiler is broke and no longer supported, unless there's an assembly guru who understands compiled CAL code, there wont' be upgrade for the ATI apps.

I can't give a good analysis of what the percent of the ATI apps fail since the error returned by BOINC with the result is too generic (failed while computing) which can occur for a number of reasons so the failure rate is somewhere between 3% and 50%. And, since AMD dropped their Brook+ support 6 years ago, if you ever upgrade your drivers, you will likely not be able to run the ATI14 apps any more.

The config file is unchanged:
verbose=1
threads=8
items_per_kernel=17
kernels_per_reduction=8
sleep=1

How can I open my computer? The computer ID is 157389.

Since I have changed from 6.04 to 6.06 (CUDA55) yesterday I get a lot of errors for my computed tasks. The status in my task list is "Bestätigungsfehler".
Task ids for example: 20034536, 20027762, 20024562, 20023802.
What is going wrong?

I have added to the config file:
lut_size=20

The performance is much better now but still a bit worse than with 6.04.
