The nightly Backup, or the lack thereof, caused the outage since when it failed, it didn't bring everything back online. There was also an issue with the validator and assimilator daemons in that when decrypting the output, there was no error handling for partial uploads. When attempting to recompile the new versions, it was failing because it could not find zlib.h which is in /usr/include. My solution was to create a symbolic link to it in the boinc lib folder. That could have been caused by the dist upgrade since it compiled fine a week ago. Anyway, everything should be back to normal now so I can get back to working on the linux apps.

Thanks for the explain. And just for completeness, the repeated posts were caused because I was getting an error message, so I retried. 3 times apparently :)

I am not having any luck.
Collatz is the only project I am attached to. I removed Collatz and reconnected, got 1 Sieve for a 6 core AMD, it crashed out within seconds and now tells me there is no work available to process.

I even un-installed and re-installed BOINC in case I had a glitch in it. No help.

I have 3 boxes running Collatz and appear to have the same issue on all of them. (2 AMD 6-core and 1 Intel quad core)

Hello David.
Not download CPU tasks . All finish in error. Problem is known.
Only GPU task are more or less stable.

If you setup a 2nd project, MooWrapper gives out decent credits and PrimeGrid has some short gpu units, with a zero resource share then it will do a workunit
from someplace else, check Collatz, do a workunit from someplace else, check Collatz etc, etc until Collatz has work again.

Hello Mickey,
Collatz work perfect with GPU ( CPU not)
But you need to detach all hosts and then attach again all.
Not forget to detach all "old" hosts.
The most easy is to use the BAM on the web. It will show if there are old hosts.
If the red cross is not visible, it will say there are It is needed to go to hosts, "show all hosts" and then detach.

Well, after re-setting and updating everything, only the one box with Win-10 seems to be working right.

Both Win-7 boxes are still crashing out on CPU WU's. My 'old & moldy' GPU's are apparently not up to running GPU tasks either.

All cpu tasks are crashing right now, part of what he's working on. Try running shorter PrimeGrid units on the gpu and cpu too in the meantime.

New app on my Win10 also crashes with error "Illegal Instruction". It probably tried to to use AVX2, which is not supported by my CPU.

Works on the following all Windows 10

Intel i5-6200U
AMD 630,965,B55, Sempron - GTX 760 or GTX 950
Intel 4770 GTX 760

I did need to remove and the setup Collatz. I have tried CPU only and for now no as well as Linux systems I have. Jon (Slicker) is work as fast as he can and testing and retesting to make sure all is sorted is his goal. When you do get errors of any type make sure you provide the following basic info.

CPU
GPU
OS & Memory help also.

This is a great project so hang tough people all will return in time. Many thanks Jon for your work and giving to math science!
