All your computer talk. Pfffttt. You'd think this was DC or something. It's serving as my desktop. Plus a little box isn't very interesting. |

All your computer talk. Pfffttt. You'd think this was DC or something. Oh but that's exactly what's interesting, that little box connects to the WHOLE internet!! |

All your computer talk. Pfffttt. You'd think this was DC or something. I'd hate to let them loose on the internet. My brain might explode. I'm taking my sneezy nose and having a glass of wine of reveling in the fact it's Friday. |

All your computer talk. Pfffttt. You'd think this was DC or something. No the idea is to let them see that technology has made the personal computer super tiny. You could come up with a list of 'approved' websites for them to see it really does work. |

All your computer talk. Pfffttt. You'd think this was DC or something. You should see the unused computers they have there. They bare a striking resemblance to my first computer in 1993. There's actually an Apple Imagewriter printer there, but no Apple IIc to drive it. Technology is not their strong suit. My cold is better. I'm not stomping around anymore with a sneeze in my nose that won't come out. I guess they feel comfortable leaving me alone with the kids. I had 10 of them today. I can get up to 12. I read The Cat in the Hat. I need some short books. They do 3 short books a lot better than 1 long one. Go figure. Half price books, here I come. |

All your computer talk. Pfffttt. You'd think this was DC or something. That's too bad!! Glad your cold is better, and yes attention spans have been getting shorter and shorter over time, technology is part of the problem, everything happens RIGHT NOW!! Try like half dot com if you are buying your own, they sell books at half price, it's like ebay I think. |

@David Reese: won't be passing you for at least a few more days :) @mikey: should I look to see if I have any old MB around you could use. I used to run a dual 1366 Xeon machine; not sure what I did with the parts. Winning (P.S. @Katherine: I'm not good with names/faces either. Adds to the stress) ![]() |

I'm almost finished with the first of my 3 hour continuing education courses. The first part was psych 101. I had bad flashbacks. |

Back to the office today after a long weekend with my parents in AZ. It was a good time and it gives me a good idea of what will be possible when we go to the Big Island of Hawai'i later this year for their 60th wedding anniversary and the 30th wedding anniversary for me and my wife. The parents can't walk very far and their attention span isn't very long, but they travel by car pretty well. So, I think we will mostly be eating, hanging out on the beach, and visiting the family gravesites. Any sightseeing at Volcanoes National Park will depend on the state of Kilauea when we visit. Witnessed active lava flows entering the ocean during our last trip, so my wife and I are under a little less pressure to experience the current eruptions. Still, we may want to consider a helicopter tour. Don't think my parents are up for visiting the summit of Mauna Kea, even by tour bus. Too bad, because the nighttime stargazing there is simply incredible, as you are above the cloud line and have very little light pollution. In the wintertime, it's occasionally cold and snowy enough to build a snowman. My cousins tell stories of bringing a load of snow down off the mountain in a truck and building a snowman on the beach. Slowly bringing my Collatz crunchers back online. Brought one more cruncher (1M credits/day) online today and hope to bring another back online tomorrow. MacVidCards just sold out their stock of flashed GTX1080s, so that temptation has disappeared. Besides, Steve Dodd passed me in the rankings this weekend, with no hope of getting back around him, not as long as he is crunching 30M credits/day. So, no pressure to build an uber cruncher. Still, I need to upgrade my home MacPro 4,1, as my internal 4 TB media drives (one primary, one backup) are close to full. Thinking about building a RAID and/or a NAS. Anybody have any advice on that? I have a very large (~4 TB) iTunes library of movies, TV shows, and music and I would love to share it across my home network (Apple Airport Extreme). Sorry for digressing into tech-talk, Kathryn. |

I always check out this site before buying anything anymore, they give each product a good workout https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-network-attached-storage/ Stay safe in Hawaii and enjoy your vacation, I'm sure everyone will have fun especially it's BOTH of yours anniversaries!! As for crunching your next worry is ME!! I'm coming for you, at least I should pass you at some point since Steve is my target too!! |
