Don't think my parents are up for visiting the summit of Mauna Kea, even by tour bus. . This is what can go wrong on the road up Haleakaia when a tour bus takes a wrong turn. The shadows on the ground are our bicycles. The bus was still there when finally took the ride down and was still there as shown on the local news that night. ![]() |

Don't think my parents are up for visiting the summit of Mauna Kea, even by tour bus. . Sound delicious!! My community is having a pool party and they are bringing bbq, much easier to go there than do it at home. |

Sounds like a plan, Mikey. Unfortunately Alberto may impact us on Monday, bbq day at the pool, so we are already planning a backup day. We are hopeful but trying to be realistic too. |

Great weekend in Indiana. Helped my bro-in-law move into his new home on Friday and Saturday, then went to the Indy 500 with my wife, her college roommate, and the roomie's hubby. Great time at the track. It was sunny and hot, but our seats were in the second to the last row of a covered grandstand, so we were in the shade and benefited from the breeze. Parked about 2.5 miles from the track, so our walk was a bit strenuous, particularly since I was carrying a backpack cooler. But, once we got to the parking lot, the traffic was remarkably light, considering that attendance was estimated to be approximately 250,000. |

Did I tell you guys lately that I HATE Windows 10 networking BS?!!! I rebooted a pc today and it decided on it's own that my home network is now public and my wired network no long works!!! I went registry edits, service edits and even added in a 2nd ethernet card...NO LUCK!!! Tomorrow that pc will get switched over to Win 10 Enterprise to see if that works or not, otherwise it's back to Win 7 for it!! |

God help me. I'm making playdough with 4-5 year olds tomorrow. |

Actually for crunchers it usually just works, updates are a pain in the neck but if you can postpone them until you are there they are manageable. God help me. I'm making playdough with 4-5 year olds tomorrow. Keep it clean!!! |

I'm too tired to put together a coherent thought. Therefore, I'm winning. |

Mikey, good luck with your Windows trouble shooting. Kathryn, I would rather make playdoh with 4-5 year-olds than troubleshoot windows networking problems. Looks like this game is approximately 90% complete. So,based on two different estimates of the rate of posting, it could be over in as few as 3 days or as long as 10 days. Let's go! Mikey, good luck with your Windows trouble shooting. Kathryn, I would rather make playdoh with 4-5 year-olds than troubleshoot windows networking problems. I just reloaded Windows and now it works fine, I know how it happened but not why or how to fix it. It auto updated to the latest version of Win10 and 'found' a new network and since I wasn't sitting right there when it updated it auto set it as 'public' and I couldn't get it to my home 'private' network. I do know I spent alot more time troubleshooting it then it took to wipe out the drive and start over!! |

Oh, Mikey, the hazards of autoupdate. I have similar problems with Apple OS X. Because it doesn't support the latest NVIDIA GPUs, every time the OS updates (even minor updates), I have to find and install an updated NVIDIA driver. So, I can no longer use the OS X autoupdate. Guess that is the downside of trying to make 8-10 year old boxes interface with more contemporary GPUs and software! Kathryn, how was the Play-Doh experience? Guess that is the downside of trying to make 8-10 year old boxes interface with more contemporary GPUs and software! Yes you are right!! It was an Intel quad core so more than 8 years old and has 'issues' with Win10!! If I were keeping it I'd put win7 on it and leave it alone, but I'm replacing it with an I7 quad core than thinks it's an 8 core. I replaced a dual core pc today with a 2nd I7 quad core that thinks it's an 8 core and it's running Win7 just fine with no issues at the moment, other than a fricking TON of updates!! I did buy a license for both new machines so they ARE legal. I do have a Mac laptop, and older one, but I turned the auto updates off so it asks me, it's only a Boinc cruncher and my travel laptop so no big deal if it isn't totally up to date every minute. |

All right, everybody, it is a wonderful Saturday morning. Woo-hoo! My to-do list for the weekend is pretty straightforward: (1) Wash, dry, and fold laundry. (2) Attempt to minimize the curb rash on the left front wheel of my car (grrrrrrrr). (3) Pay the weekly bills. (4) Mow the lawn and edge the sidewalks. (5) Finish the draft of a letter of intent for a Department of Defense grant application and give it to my boss for review. (6) Set up another BOINC cruncher. (7) Try to optimize Collatz NVIDIA GPU tasks. (8) Read and revise a draft manuscript. Saw Ocean's 8 last night - movie date night with my wife. 2.5/4 stars. Amusing, but not as good as Soderbergh's Ocean's 11, which is the inspiration for this moving. In this movie, you never really thought that the caper would fail and/or the thieves would be caught. However, there is lots of star power in this movie - you have to pay close attention to keep up with the stunt casting cameos. Moreover, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathway, Helena Bonham Carter, and Cate Blanchett worked hard with the material they were given. Rihanna was a revelation - her performance as a decidedly unglamorous stoner hacker was outstanding. |

(8) Read and revise a draft manuscript. 1 is easy except I hate folding, 2 took me 3 days I spread it out to fix my wifes car after my cousin hit it, 3 I have my wife do the bills so she knows how much money we have to spend as she spends far more than I do, 4 will get you outside where hopefully it's not too hot, 5 is beyond my abilities, 6 is easy peasy as long as everything cooperates, 7 is just cut and paste and 8 is beyond my abilities too. I hope you enjoy your weekend!! Saw Ocean's 8 last night - movie date night with my wife. 2.5/4 stars. Amusing, but not as good as Soderbergh's Ocean's 11, which is the inspiration for this moving.
