Oh, I can see why.

Even though the server status is showing everything is up now, all of the validations are failing.

All processed wus are going straight to the invalid bin :(

I'm up to 2151 as of 07:10:57 - Thursday, July 5, 2018

Yeah, no need to check your computers on a national holiday because hackers take the day off too...

Validation pending (1373) :(

Now that's not fair!! He IS here and working on it, someone is trying to hack the returns AGAIN and causing the Server to have issues with every invalid unit. He posted in the News section!!

Maybe it'll help if I make it bigger, bolder and more colourful:

Being called a slacker, even in jest, may insult rather than make someone laugh. Your attempt at humour has not really worked, Slicker may see the funny side of it.

Hackers don't need to take days off as they get too much fun making problems for other people.

Jon puts in a huge amount of effort to keep his project running smoothly for us to have fun with, so give him a break.

One slack thing he probably does need is something to Slacken his thirst after he stops another cheat who is getting greedy.

I may of taken your quote the wrong way and you meant it to be funny, I hope that you did anyway, but repeating your statement does not make it funnier.

The issue is that someone is trying to hack the output and their crap is causing the validator to crash. I'm trying to add code to filter their invalid results so it will stop crashing on every bad WU returned.

The bad guy isn't getting any credits either, so at this point that's a win for Collatz, the Admin has been very good in the past at giving the rest of us the credits we deserve, he's also been working on this since at least the 4th of July...a holiday where he is.

My own numbers are: Invalid (2825)

Even if there was a "bad guy", there isn't anything that can be described as a "win" here in any sense whatsoever.

The win is that this situation is being addressed and that we will all (except for one cruncher maybe) be here, with our credits, after the dust has settled.

Which isn't a win at all.

It's a loss.

Multiple losses in fact.

Lost credit.

Loss of a properly working project.

Loss of computers to other projects.

Hope that one person can fix this and hope that they can restore the lost credit cannot be described as a win.

Hello,

after invalid results I installed Collatz and Bionic new, but still the same invalid result.
Was the same version before. All servers are working.
Same calculation time here on Win64 / Nvidia like before.
Has anybody get a valid result I think in the last 24 hours?

I think, we have to wait until "all features are fixed".

And yet you still want to crunch here for this project? The key is the Admin IS working on it and when they are done things will return to normal and the credits will start flowing again. THAT is a WIN!!
BTW if you have the solution maybe you should PM the Admin with your ideas.

And "lost credit" is only in your mind...you can't "lose" something you don't have, you can be delayed in your gratification as long as you are still crunching here, but you can't "lose" what you never had. Since your pc's are hidden I can't tell if you have taken your pc's elsewhere or not. Woulda, coulda, shoulda is what we all have in life, IF we had invested in Apple or Google or whatever when it first came out none of us would care about credits because managing our billions would be MUCH more important. IF Collatz didn't have someone trying to hack the credit system again then we would all have the credits flowing like they did before the person tried and caused all the current problems.

I'm still crunching here, but the most productive GPUs are now working for Amicable Numbers -- where they went last time this project went down.

On a system based on RAC you really are *losing* credit -- which even with my computers hidden should be obvious because you're losing yours faster and are now ranked lower than me.

And Gridcoin team members are losing their RAC-based gridcoin earnings too -- so my children may have to go hungry this weekend.

Oh, I forgot the ideas for the Admin:

1. Use a pro monitoring service to ensure that the validation process doesn't stop working for an extended period of time.

2. Reduce the amount of credit you hand out for each wu to Amicable Numbers levels to keep those who get so excited about big numbers that they are tempted to cheat away from your project.

3. Better reporting of GPU performance statistics so that other users can identify rogues quickly. We all know to the second what various GPUs are capable of, so a 750ti boshing out WUs every 10 seconds would be quickly noticed.

4. Make a new thread on the message board when stuff screws up so that everybody is aware and can take whatever actions they think necessary. Most users don't have time to pick through a long and unrelated thread for this important information.
