In order to support workunits of multiple sizes (e.g. smaller workunits for CPUs and older GPUs and larger workunits for fast GPUs), several updates to the server daemons are required and the first change is deploying a new work generator for the current application. This will be installed Friday afternoon. The changes are expected to take no more than 30 minutes.

Does this relate to the computation errors I have started receiving with collatz? (linux x64 cuda) thanks.

Nope. It relates to the people who have been unhappy with the WU size increase. So, after the updates are completed, they will be able to run a "mini_collatz" app that is 1/8th the size of the current collatz WUs so they won't take a day or more to finish a WU on a slow GPU. My Quadro NVS 160M looks like it will finish a mini-WU in about 6 hours and that's the slowest CUDA card I have although the 8400GS is down pretty far as well. People will have to choose which project to run carefully or else they will max out the number of WUs per day. The max WUs per day will be limited in order to keep people with faster cards running the bigger WUs. It will also help the CPU users since a mini-WU on a PIII 800Mhz should take about 3.5 days and only a few hours on a new i7. Testing is currently under way. I also plan to fix the estimated flops so it is more in line with the SSE opt apps since there are few if any people that run the stock apps. It will still be off by double for the 64-bit apps, but at least it will be close.
