From the extracted collatz cuda application directory, run the following commands:

cp -P lib64/* /usr/lib64/

This will install the necessary libraries. You need to use the root account to do this. Now exit the root account (CTRL-D or "exit") and do the following using the boinc user account, or do this as root if you are using root to run the boinc client:

cp app_info.xml BOINC/projects/boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz/
cp collatz_2.04_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu__cuda31 BOINC/projects/boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz/
cp lib64/ BOINC/projects/boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz/

Replace BOINC with the path to the folder you extracted from the boinc client package.

For the benefit of folks that are trying to use this on Ubuntu 11 64-bit, there's no more /usr/lib64 directory. It's now just /usr/lib

However, I just copied the app_info.xml, collatz_2.04_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu_cuda31, and the libcudart.* files into the project directory and it's running right now.

You do need to change the owner of the files to match what's already on the files in the project/boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz directory.

Soooo let me see.....

6.10.9 25th Sept
6.10.8 25th Sept
6.10.7 23rd Sept
6.10.6 18th Sept
6.10.5 17th Sept
6.10.4 8th Sept
6.10.3 2nd Sept

Looks to me like headless chicken time down at the funny farm :-)

Well, we'll try to be nice and say that the BOINC guys need to get a better handle on software development and fix some things before releasing so many "beta" releases without good regression testing.

But then again, since there are so many folks willing to trash their entire WU cache by trying out the latest untested software, why should they change their behavior?

And yes, I'm on the BOINC alpha mailing list, and see most, if not all the discussions.

Actually, you may not have to detach/re-attach. Set the project to No New Work (NNW) and be sure that all tasks have reported.

Then just "Reset" the project by clicking on the "Reset Project" button. This should clear out all the project specific files, and have Collatz download everything you need.
