I just saw slickers post in another thread.... it seems he has not updated the new app_info. I already just deleted them. Works.

I downloaded the SSE for 32bit. Now it tries to run dozens of WU's at the same time. What a disaster.

Seems to be working nicely except for one thing: doesn't seem to pay attention to the "use gpu while computer is in use?" option in the preferences. It runs gpu tasks continually even when set to not do so.

There was a brief discussion of this on the mailing lists where it was noted that the API by Nvidia does not work as they expected it would.

Unfortunately, all of my other BOINC CUDA aps respect that flag and do not crunch GPU tasks while I'm using the computer. Only Collatz fails to stop.

As this is my gaming machine when it's not crunching, I can't have that. [shrugs]

Find cc_config.xml

and put in

<cc_config>
<options>
<exclusive_app>Speed.exe</exclusive_app>
<exclusive_app>Crysis.exe</exclusive_app>
<exclusive_app>FarCry.exe</exclusive_app>
<exclusive_app>NFSHP2.exe</exclusive_app>
<exclusive_app>FarCry2.exe</exclusive_app>
<exclusive_app>Dirms.exe</exclusive_app>
<exclusive_app>Spybot.exe</exclusive_app>
</options>
</cc_config>

If you don't have a cc_config.xml file, simply make one with the above format and drop it into your BOINC directory or put cc_config.xml in the Boinc DATA folder if its Win7/Vista C:\ProgramData\BOINC
Whatever games you want to suspend BOINC.

You will get messages lke this...

Its not turning out that way for me...lol

http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/workunit.php?wuid=608107

^^ That WU takes about 27-28 mins. I got 25 credits for it. On the previous app, I'd have exactly 2 WU's completed for ~300 credits in total. SO I'm getting ~10% of previous.

First, you used the old v1.10 app (just look at your wingmen, it took him less than a minute to finish it with the v2.0 CUDA app) and second it looks like you are too late as you got the corrected credits for this WU already.

Dude. My computer is 1744. That less than a minute is NOT accurate. It took 25-28 mins. I'm sitting here watching them run. My wingman is 1.10 and computer 2295

Then that WU took you less than a minute. I'm pretty sure those times are accurate. This was a resend of an old (much smaller) WU. It probably slipped through that fast you didn't notice it ;)

New WUs are much longer but also give much more credits and take the time you currently see in your BOINC manager. Just keep an eye on this page and you will see them appearing with about 700 something credits when they get validated.

Think about this carefully.... lets look at my wingman...the other computer, the GPU is a NVidia 260. Not slow. It took ~45mins according to the report... and he gets 22.89 credit??

Something is wrong. I am almost 100% sure that this WU did not just slip by.

I do notice that the newer WU's ARE been timed ok.

It's all Greek to me when you start talking about things like ~2.75 h / ~8 h * 32 / 10 = 1.1, all I see is longer run times and talk about Cutting Credits.

Let's put it that way: the time for a WU goes up, but you will also get 3.2 times as much credits for it ;)

That's Kewl if so ... :)

Until Slicker gets that reduction into place, you will get even much more than that. For a fast GPU it amounts to some ridiculous amount right now, about 7 credits per second :o

So crunch those WUs as long as this "problem" is not fixed! ;)

Yes. Project reset fixed it!

OK. As was said before... CUDA uses hardly ANY CPU whatsoever. ON a 8800 GTX, we're looking at possible 30 min completion per WU.

The new CUDA app uses CUDA v2.3. The old one used CUDA 2.1. I can't deploy the new one without deleting the old one since both use the cudart.dll and boinc won't let you have two files with the same name.

CUDA 2.3 requires 190.38 or higher drivers. Anyone have a problem with dropping 1.10 and replacing it with 2.0?

I can make the 1.10 app available as a CUDA opt app for those with older drivers it that would help. Thoughts? Comments?

For the love of the Gods, give us the v2.0 CUDA app. :D

I has been deployed as can be seen here

It uses CUDA23 which __may__ require a later boinc version. I'm not sure when they added the cuda23 plan class. The older boinc client didn't report the cuda driver version whereas the new version does. The new verion is checked to make sure the client has cuda v2.3 before it will send cuda work.

Great! I'll go off and kill a few cats as a sacrifice!

The last time i checked that page I didn't see them. I see them now though. ;)
