1) Message boards : Number crunching : Badges (Message 23738)

Then my question I why would a color blind person even be running this project or running Fractal Programs. Meaning they would not see all and even I would not see all. We cannot see all the colors of the world. Please go back the older style Badges that EG created for us.

Why would a color blind person run a project that is looking for little green men? Becuase it is't about the color, it's about the discovery. This project isn't about generating fractals. It's about a math theory. That the results happen to map just like a fractal just makes it more interesting that something so simple can be so hard to prove (or disprove).

I'll be putting the newly proposed badges on the new server rather than the military ranks.

That would be really nice!

Anyone have some good settings for a GTX 1060? Currently using;
verbose=1
kernels_per_reduction=48
threads=8
lut_size=17
sleep=1
reduce_cpu=0
sieve_size=26
cache_size=1

Tasks are taking about 15 minutes each. That seems a bit long with the GPU showing 98% load.

It's not long at all.
Now when tasks are much longer it's normal.
I'm getting same times.

Double check the file: large_collatz_6.04_windows_x86_64__opencl_amd_gpu.CONFIG

Suspect it may be blank because that's on the slow side for a 7990, you should be either side of 4.5hrs+ for the complete file depending on GPU clocks that you have set.

Mine (on 7970s - clocks 1185/1685) is below:

verbose=1
items_per_kernel=22
kernels_per_reduction=9
threads=8
sleep=1

Depending on how it runs on the 7990, you might need to reduce "items per kernal" to 21

It is not empty because I already configured it.
verbose=1
items_per_kernel=20
kernels_per_reduction=9
threads=8
sleep=1
build_options=-Werror

Both GPUs are set to not exceed 950MHz

Strange but now it works normally again. ~22 min 45 sec as expected.

Looks like 4.09 is 5 minutes slower. I am using same configuration as 4.07. Is there something different or what?
