Somewhat off topic, but I just passed 2 Beellion here! So, I'M WINNING!!! :)

Yes you are, are you trying to catch me overall though?

Because of the price of Bitcoins I'm going to put my miners on Ebay this week, see if I can make some money on the price jumps.

...I guess I'll be eating eggs for lunch...

i'm going to have an enormous piece of beef with a very hot and spicy tomato sauce---and win!

I can do the beef, not the "enormous" part, and hot tomato sauce, but you can keep the spicy part. I can't do spicy anymore. But I am winning!!

now we have a METER(3 feet) of snow---so i'm winner))

We're waiting for a winter storm (complete with ice). Therefore, I'm winning.

And I'm waiting for more semi rainy and 50+F days to come!! I won't have long to wait though as that's my normal forecast for here. I am winning!!

Welcome back Steve Dodd!!

It was in the 70's yesterday but very muggy, then it POURED last night, rain all day today and most of tomorrow too. It's a VERY good thing we don't have temps like you guys do or we'd be under FEET of snow!!!

I am winning!!

I lied about yesterday. It only got up to freezing. My poor fingers and toes are cold. Thank goodness for fuzzy socks and fingerless gloves.

No wonder your fingers are cold put some mittens on!!

CONGRATULATIONS on your win Kathryn!!!

But now I am here and winning!!

Try again. I'm winning on a raw day.

It's supposed to be almost 60 here today, it's already 42 at 7am!!
I am winning!!

After we hit 3 degrees, I stopped looking at the temperature. Although we're supposed to be in the 40s today. It's gonna get cold again.

WOO HOO, I'm glad that's you and not me!!! It actually hit 70 yesterday and will be in the mid 60's today. NOW you know one of the reasons I moved!!

I would also suggest you get one of those laptop cooling pads you put under your laptop to take any heat away from the laptop, something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Cooling-TeckNet-Portable-Powered-Notebook/dp/B016CL2DE6/ref=sr_1_1?m=A2L77EE7U53NWQ&s=warehouse-deals&ie=UTF8&qid=1515331564&sr=8-1&keywords=laptop+fan

Also use a program like MSIAfterburner to monitor the heat and speed up the fan automatically if it does start to get too warm, Aterburner works for both AMD/ATI and Nvidia brand gpu's.

...really nice but coming up with about $3000 each...

and eating almost 1000 watt of electric power each)

750Ti is a very good card for crunching...was...3-4 years ago....
please, look here: http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-750-Ti-vs-GeForce-GTX-1050
1050 costs the same money, but has better performance and the same power consumption because of Pascal GPU Architecture(750ti has Maxwell GPU Architecture)

When I was running Bitcoin Utopia and asic miners I was running 1200watt power supplies. two of them, to keep my Avalon 6's running 24/7. That's how my Boinc credits got as high as they are.

Kathryn you have a PM.

Hey, Mikey, what is your opinion of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 750Ti? I bought one to upgrade a MacPro 4,1 that didn't have a spare internal power cable (an AMD/ATI 5870 was using both). The 750Ti generated >600K in Collatz credits in the first 24 hours, which compares quite favorably to the ~750K/day generated by an NVIDIA GTX 680 and the ~800K/day generated by an NVIDIA GTX 770. So, from my perspective the GTX 750Ti is an energy efficient way to boost crunching capacity.

On a related question, I have two GTX 960s that require only a single internal power cable. I can't seem to find any more of these units, as my previous vendor (MacVidCards.com) no longer stocks them. Any suggestions? IMHO, a combo 960/750 MacPro 4,1 would be a great solution for a stable workstation/BOINC cruncher.

I am still lusting after a Cubix Xpander Desktop Elite Gen 3 with 4 Titan Xps. But I can't justify spending that much on crunching. :-)

I have two kinds of 750Ti's, one with 2gb and other with only 1gb on the card, the 2gb card IS good here while the 1gb card is better at other projects with less intensive crunching. I too get around 600k per day in credits from the 2gb card.

I don't use a Mac desktop at all, I do use a Mac laptop I picked for my travels and it does crunching cpu units, but not here.

I also don't worry about the power my pc's use, right now anyway, so just buy the best gpu my pc can use and I can afford. As for your 960's have you looked on Ebay yet? I got almost all of my 750Ti's from there, I have 7 of them.

A few Titan gpu's WOULD be really nice but coming up with about $3000 each isn't an easy thing to do, especially when they aren't making any money. :-)

I am winning!!

I'm running a mix of cards - from 950 to 1070. In my unfortunate case, they're mixed in the machines, too. I need to do some reconfiguration so I can optimize for similar cards in a machine. Won't be soon though. And, I'm winning :)

I too have a wide range of cards, My Nvidia ones include several 750Ti's, a 760, 2 980's, 3 1060's and 2 1080Ti's. I also run a few AMD/ATI cards a 7970 a 480 and a 5870. I spread them all out across several projects though so one project doesn't see them all.
I am winning!!

That's really good for the both of you!!! NOW have you tried running more than one unit at once on the best cards?

<app_config>
<app>
<name>collatz_sieve</name>
<max_concurrent>2</max_concurrent>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.25</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

This won't work very well on cards like the 750Ti either the 1gb or the 2gb variety, but for a 1060, with 3gb+ and up it might. One problem I'm having right now is I have my resource share at zero and it will only get one workunit despite the app_config.xml file above. I'm working on Ammicable Numbers and GpuGrid right now and my gpu's are only here when they can't get work elsewhere. I do have 2 gpu's here full time...an Nvidia 1060 and a 2gb 750Ti. I will try the app_config.xml on the 1060 and let you know how it goes.

[edit]I tried ir on my 1060 and it raised the gpu usage to 100% and the fan temp to 82C and the unit length is JUST under double, so yes there is a benefit but not enough for me so I went back to one workunit at a time on the 1060. [/edit]

The 1gb 750Ti did the workunit in 8,527.92 seconds and got 28,566.90 credits for it.

The 2gb 750Ti finished a work unit in 5,049.91 seconds and got 41,320.45 credits for it. The 1gb 750Ti is still running saying it has 1 1/2 hours still to go.

GTX 1080 Stock ~6,300,000
Asus GTX 1060 OC ~3,100,000

Pleasantly surprised with the 1060. I'm thinking about replacing a GTX 580 in my old computer with either a 1050 Ti or another 1060 OC. Is there anyone running a 1050 Ti?

I just put two on here and will run a task or two for you, one is a 2gb card and the other is a 1gb card. BOTH are using the same optimization codes.
