It appears that there was an issue with the work generator getting access to the mysql socket. I restarted both the daemons and the database and I think it should be working now.

Everything is working as expected now. Thank you for fixing the issues.

Since you made the change I am still unable to get Large units on my GPUs.

Looks like an issue with non Android. This is the only GPU project I have selected and I cannot get work. I returned a unit today, it just says none are available, but plenty are in the queue

Service is good for say servers that are headless (no graphics). Before Windows Vista, Service would work with video, but MS made some changes that cannot be bypassed and it stayed in the software.

If you machine is home and you are the only user, you can set the machine to just automatically login and no need to worry about Service mode.

Correct, installing as a service will not allow GPU crunching.

Maybe he had to go on an emergency and did not have time to update the news before he left? We all go through things. Maybe radio silence means he is working out whatever that emergency was? Please give the guy a break and let him give his explanation when he has time and/or gets through whatever may be causing him to not write anything at the moment.

Again, compassion is something that is not being seen by all the, give us an answer now. I always keep a project or two at 0 that are usually small and will kick back to Collatz when it returns. My machines do not go dry that way.

Slicker seems to take much of his allotted vacation/holiday time in November and December. He hunts and does some traveling. So, there is bound to be outages. He has explained this several tines in the past.

I am happy he takes his time off seriously and gets away. Many people stay home / near home because they for some reason do not have the ability to get away. Let the man enjoy his vacations and not get hounded about the outage.

An approximate 2 week outage is fine with me over the holiday. There are plenty of back up projects to crunch while this one is down. You may find another project that you didn't realize was out there, or you may build up on some other badges, or add time to WUProp (if you do that) on something new.

This is not the only project that has gone or will go on hiatus for a bit. It was Christmas time. Where is the compassion and understanding this time of year should have? Our stressed out lives and nearly instant gratifications have us so tied up in knots we don't remember that we should find some inner peace and find understanding for your fellow person.

...but lately my android phone is not able to receive any work units at all but my tablet is getting micro work units just fine. any ideas?

Reboot the phone via power off/power on. This usually means some type of update happened or memory is no longer optimal (run BOINC fragments memory too far after a while). So a clean power off/power on resets these abnormalities.

Nope. No changes made. Max Micro IOPS is set to 4435 Mega iops. You laptop just reported 4449. Are you by chance running a new BOINC version that now reports a few more iops than the previous version?

I bumped it up to 4.5 giga iops (4718592000 iops) so that should do the trick. I just hope it doesn't start sending micro WUs to PCs that don't want them.

I have not changed the version. I am still running Native BOINC. An update to the device was sent down by the manufacture. Maybe they did something to optimize operations, somehow?

I thank you for adjusting it. I agree that the way BOINC does it's benchmarking is biased. It does not take into consideration the type of processor, OS, etc.

Keep up the great work.

I have a question.
...
Thanks Jon.

Have you tried to reboot? Sounds like your system has gotten the GPU in a weird state and a reboot will probably clear that.

Looks like you made a change again as my tablet is no longer allowed to download Micro. So it's only running Mini, again. I would still love to do the Mirco.

Thank you.

It would be pretty hard to fix since the mobile venue has never existed.

Except it is listed on Collatz as a venue when you go into details and try and select a new venue. So, somehow it exists, but is not valid. This was the same issue I brought up before.

OK. Give it a try now.

Had to wait for a Mini to finish (because BONIC will not download a project with a paused task and I was not going to waste hours of crunching on aborting one). It is working ask expected now. Thank you very much.

Instead of making it 5000, why not just make it 4650. This will keep it under the threshold of a 2G machine, allowing the 1.9G to get Micro work?

I am using NativeBoinc. The last time I tried the official version it did not allow me to remote control it like the non-ARM versions do, and it also had other issues (crashing projects that worked fine on the 3rd party). So I am hesitant to use it. If they fixed it and now allow me to use a remote manager to control the unit, I may be more inclined to try, but no one has been able to give me an affirmative on that.

You stated your PC is a 1.8G, well my ARM is a 1.9G, so technically it could be faster than your desktop and may be why the benchmark is higher.

I cannot get Micro for my Arm. Says there are units on the Status page, but when I request them it says there is none.

The BOINC client from Berkeley (form the Google app store) works fine and did not need to be re-installed.

Problem is I could not manage it the same way as I do NativeBOINC. I use an OLD program called BoincView that I love and can control all normal computers, but the ARM version of BOINC would not work, so I always had to do everything locally, which was not optimal. I am unsure if this has been fixed and I am not willing to try, since I am very comfortable with what I currently have.

(You start getting older and set in your ways.)
