OpenCL or CUDA is required to use nVidia tasks. The former may just be having it not detected, but the later requires manual installation.
Here's an example of my output:
22-Jan-2017 07:24:30 [---] CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 650 (driver version 367.57, CUDA version 8.0, compute capability 3.0, 978MB, 965MB available, 873 GFLOPS peak)
22-Jan-2017 07:24:30 [---] OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 650 (driver version 367.57, device version OpenCL 1.2 CUDA, 978MB, 965MB available, 873 GFLOPS peak)
If you don't and end up having it show "No usable GPUs" found (for example https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=9162) there is a problem with either BOINC detecting the GPU or not having the right libraries installed.
If otherwise that's OK, make sure that the GPU compiling options are enabled in your Computing Preferences.
