1) Message boards : Windows : Tasks Always Fail on Resume (Message 24592)

Data for individual jobs are stored in named subdirectories under C:\ProgramData\BOINC\slots
Unfortunately, no data were preserved when a task failed to resume.

It ought to be easy to fix bugs that cause the system to not persist the state of a task, however, the developers need to be aware of this, and commit to investigate and fix.

I reinstalled BOINC and Collatz, the system started new tasks. Several minutes later I suspended two of the four tasks and tried to resume them after a few seconds. Both failed with "computation error".

In the past I tried refreshing the entire system and got the same result, although I did not try the suspend-resume cycle so quickly.

Where does the software store low level log messages?

This problem is easily reproducible.

On this computer I only have Collatz in BOINC. Four tasks run concurrently. If I suspend them and resume them, some fail immediately. These tasks run in background using a service account. They use CPU only.

For years tasks work fine as long as they are not interrupted. Resuming a task works correctly once in a while.

What could be the problem?
