Actually, the CUDA 4.2 application faster than the CUDA 2.0 and the CUDA 3.1 versions by about 15-18%. Better yet, you can now download the CUDA 4.2 app from the optimized applications page. Report back with both successes and failures as I'd like to get this installed as an opt app as soon as possible.

Hmm, no linux version?

In general, OpenCL = slow. Or, at least slower than CUDA or CAL. I am working on a new CUDA 4.2 app since the OpenCL is underperforming.

Is Cuda4.2 faster than the older 3.2?
We tested it on Primegrid for GeneferCUDA. Cuda4.0 and 4.1 were ever slower than v3.2.

Don't use the one from ppa.launchpad.net. This version causes in the past some weird misfunctions if you use a boinc account manager like BAM or Grid-Republic.
Please read Inconsistent signing key from account manager in Boincstats.

I use the older version 6.10.56 from Berkeley and have no problems. Positive side-effect of the Berkeley-version is that BOINC will be installed in your home-directory and not anywhere in the system like the ubuntu-version.

DLLs are not executable.
You forgot to set <flops>1.0e11</flops> and maybe <cmdline>L13 I8 S0</cmdline>. Your <max_ncpus>1.0</max_ncpus> is to high and blocks one cpu-core, use <max_ncpus>0.05</max_ncpus> instead.

I have no problems with my GTS450 "eco-version" with driver 270.26beta and linux64. The thread run times with a GTS450 "eco" at Primegrid contains some runtimes.

I have posted somewhere the runtimes of my cards but lol i forgot where it was :D

Not somewhere, it was in the thread run times with a GT440 at PG.
The biggest difference between both cards is the missing 6- or 8-pin power connector and main cause of the lower clock rates. Your card has a consumtion of max 150W (75W PCIe-x16/PEG + 75W from the 6-pin power connector) and is listed in different shops with 106W TDP. My card will be listed with only 69W TDP...

Which error-message was displayed in the BSOD ?
Something with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ?

Maybe Ken_g6 or Iain Bethune from PG can help you. Ken coded the PPSsieve-app for Cuda (on Win/Linux) and ported it to OpenCL, Iain tried OpenCL on Mac OS.

OC-RAM? If yes you need simple more RAM-voltage or you have faulty RAM.

Memtest is useless in my eyes. You have to disable all caches and test every DIMM separately or your result would be a maybe...
I use Orthos Multiprime with setting "Blend - stress CPU and RAM" instead. My last RAM-error was detected after only 10sec runtime!

Slicker the Aqua-guys had the same problem in the past, take look in the thread 32-bit apps on 64-bit machines.

Update on this topic:

It seems that all the invalid work units were crunched by GPU 1 (at least the first 20 I checked), but also some crunched by gpu 1 are valid, any other hints?

(I have APP/openCL installed, I know that support for OpenCL is only for one core of the HD5970, will try to remove it).

Take a look at http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/power_apps.php.
Collatz is not Primegrid on ATI/AMD-GPUs. Means collatz uses CAL and not OpenCL in the apps...

Using two different types of GPUs causes new problems. If you don't use a cc_config.xml, Boinc would only use the faster one and disable the slower for Boinc...

I would be cautious of such a Project Aim, its certainly one I'm not comfortable with. The DNETC project aims to break an RSA key - but thats with a legitimate competition sponsored by the Vendor.

I second that. It's highly questionable, that this is being done with motorolas blessing...

It seems to be on the same page as jailbreaking an iphone or the latest ps3 root key hacks. I doubt either apple nor sony bis happy with that.

OxyOne and Sesef are project-admins for DnetC and also for the AndrOINC project...
