1) Message boards : Number crunching : After Outage CPU WU's didn't juse the (SSE) Version (Message 11032)
Posted 2558 days ago by Anchesa
On the 3 PCs i'ved optimized this weekend all is working fine.
(There was another space too much in the CPU Section of the app_info -> <executable /> )

In the morning i've downloaded CPU Units for an Unoptimized PC and it's now dowloading the sse Version again too.

Many Thanx
Anchesa

Ok the optimized is now running.

The error in the app_info was the space in the main_program tag
<main_program;-)/>

Later I will try to get new work and will see if i get CPU WUs that will use the SSE Version.

Till now i haven't juse the app_info.xml in this project. But the hole 3 Months it has use the (sse) Version for the CPU WUs.

Because i'm crunhing on GPU too, I've build one app_info with the GPU part.

Immediately after it will beginn to crunch, the app crashes with this message:
15-Jan-2011 17:37:48 [Collatz Conjecture] Starting collatz_1294775490_18485_3
15-Jan-2011 17:37:49 [Collatz Conjecture] Computation for task collatz_1294775490_18485_3 finished

I've coppied the 3 Files(app_info.xml, collatz_2.04_windows_intelx86__cuda23.exe, and cudart.dll) into the project directory
but i don't understand the following in the readme.txt:
For XP the location is:
"c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\boinc\projects\boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz"
I've tried it too (copy the 3 files in the directory: c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\boinc\projects\boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz),
but the same error happens.

Is this historical? Because my project folder is in the DATA directory:
C:\Data\projects\boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz

Here is my app_info file (all from the zip Files):

I think Microsoft Windows (98 or later) running on an Intel x86-compatible CPU with SSE seems to be the best solution for your host because your hosts are hidden...

I have the collatz_2.00_windows_intelx86__sse.exe Version.
But every time i'm downloading new CPU WUs it's downloading the Version without (sse).

The Problem is that the line:
<plan_class>sse</plan_class> isn't in the result section of the client_state file.

If i edit this line, it works fine.
I can edit it for every WU, but why is this line not automaticly in the client_state file like it was before the outage.

> There are several threads about it but ALL units are taking about 4 times as > long to crunch and getting 4 times the credits for them too!

But that is not the problem.

The problem is, that all CPU WU's are now will be crunched with the none (sse) Version.

If i added the plan_cass SEE manualy in the client_state file(result tag), then it works with the (sse) Version again.
But if i download the next wus, it again will crunch on the none (sse) Version (and I must edit it manualy again for the new WUs).

collatz_2.00_windows_intelx86__sse.exe
collatz_2.00_windows_intelx86.exe

Hello:

After the long outage the CPU Wus i've get are now all collatz 2.00 for all my PCs:
http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/workunit.php?wuid=31236347

before the Outage they were all collatz v2.00 (sse):
http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/workunit.php?wuid=30698221

edit:
Before (with SSE ) the CPU Time was around 15 ~ 17 hours

Now the shorts (without SSE) take around 35 hours
and the long (by 60 hours it have 45% ) for 100 it will need 130 to 140 hours.

I didn't have changed anything. Why did he not longer juse the (sse) version on all my PCs?

Many Thanx for Info
Anchesa
