The only difference between the mini and the standard WUs are the size. The apps are exactly the same, just renamed. Therefore, you CAN run either. In the app_info, whereever you see "collatz" as the name, user_friendly_name, or app_name, change it to "mini_collatz" like this:

Note that the executable file name does not change. If you change it because you did a global search and replace, then you will also have to rename the actual file so it matches.

<app_info> <app> <name>mini_collatz</name> <user_friendly_name>mini_collatz</user_friendly_name> </app> <file_info> <name>collatz_2.01_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu__ati14</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>libbrook64.so</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>libbrook_cal64.so</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>mini_collatz</app_name> <version_num>201</version_num> <flops>1.0e11</flops> <avg_ncpus>0.05</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>1.00</max_ncpus> <coproc> <type>ATI</type> <count>1.0</count> </coproc> <cmdline></cmdline> <file_ref> <file_name>collatz_2.01_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu__ati14</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>libbrook64.so</file_name> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>libbrook_cal64.so</file_name> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_info>

You also have to have the mini_collatz application checked enabled in your project preferences.

why we don't have a app for "mini" if it's so simply ?

so, I will try your solution !
thanks

The problem is the processor when running at 100% power, as Boinc does, drains the battery so fast it isn't worth it! You would need to be plugged in for it to work as the battery didn't last an hour last time Boinc was tested on a smartphone.

Don't worried about that ! ;)

this is my computer : http://www.silverstonetek.com/images/products/sg06/SG06B-3-4-1.jpg

my APU : http://static.pcinpact.com/images/bd/news/mini-94462-gigabyte-e350n-usb3-0-fusion-e-350-zacate-hfr.png

and my battery : http://www.linternaute.com/science/technologie/diaporamas/06/paysages-industriels/images/03.jpg ;) :p :p :p

no, in my case it's not a laptop (I love Boinc, and I begun boinc 10years ago !
but I never want to use a laptop... because "cooler is better" for my laptop !).

So I think it can be nice if a lot of APU/motherboard can crunch on mini-collatz ! ;)
and specialy mine Gigabyte work in a very good silence... so it's a very good small pc for crunching ! ^^

Hello,

One of the star (and not "the star" => don't feed the troll ^^ ) of the year is the Zacate AMD family !
they sold more than 3M of APU this year, and a lot of have finish in HTPC !

I have mine ! :D

and I want to run Collatz on !
but the majority of HTPC use Linux for OS (and XBMC... but it's not the subject ! :D ) and we can't use mini-Collatz on a AMD's GPU if we use Linux ! :(

I tried a "normal" collatz and my first UT will finish after 30h !!!

Do you think, it's very hard to make an application to have mini-collatz on the combo APU/Linux ?
