will run at a level not seen since Apple IIe and DEC PDP-11s. You won't have to worry that your computer is getting less credits while using the same amount of electricity

so if I cruch it manually on my TI SR51 I will get the same credit?

Edit: Is there a BOINC client available for pocket calculators?
Oh I forgot .. they have no internet access. But I could send the result as an email or sms ...

Hi,

I'm new in the Linux world.
Today I've tried collatz on this machine :
http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/show_host_detail.php?hostid=135224

This is what happens:

<core_client_version>7.2.7</core_client_version>

<message>
process got signal 8
</message>
<stderr_txt>
Collatz Conjecture v4.04 x86_64 for CUDA 5.0

Name GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Compute 2.1
Parameters --device 0

Numbers/Kernel 65536
Kernels/Reduction 256
Numbers/Reduction 16777216
Reductions/WU 49152
Threads 0
Reduction CPU

</stderr_txt>

Fails with 136 (0x88) Unknown error number

The thing with the client_state.xml:
where did they get the numbers from? Will they fit on my system?

Cheers,

Alexander

The official boinc for Android is available here

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/boinc-android-testing

Would be nice to see Collatz also there!

A number of apps are still working, see also native boinc.

The name sure can confuse people though. I would have expected that an A8-3870 to have an embedded HD 3870 GPU on an AMD 8 core processor. But the graphics are really HD 6550. So, why didn't they call it an A8-6550? Simple. They have Dr. Rodney McKay naming their stuff.

An intresting idea.
Will wait now for the A12 7970 with a TDP of 65W ... :-))

I've just upgraded the driver and tried it on my AMD A8 (FM1 APU)
It's working fine. Will post the runtime when it has finished.

I found this in the LHC-forum:

-1073741819
- usually indicates BOINC is installed as a daemon
- open BOINC's Event Log, scroll to the top of the log, about 5 lines from the top if it says "running as a daemon" then reinstall BOINC, in the third screen of the installer click Advanced, uncheck the Protected Application Execution box and proceed with the installation

I am shure that I did not install BOINC as a daemon. Maybe a problem with the windows rights management? That's beyond my knowledge. But it could explain, why Arkayans system is running fine.

Hi,
I've updated the ccc to 11.11.
Now almost all wu's fail with - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005)
The whole day (before updating) the system was successfully crunching Collatz.
Win7 x64, BM 6.10.34
Searching in the forum for -1073741819 did not bring any results.
Any ideas?

10) Message boards : Unix/Linux : Ati GPU - cant receive WU - pls help (Message 12373)
Posted 2433 days ago by Werkstatt
Hi,

I am completely newbie in the Linux-world.
I have just installed Kubuntu, updated it to the latest version. There was a special ATI-driver, tested by linux people; I installed that.
Unfortunately the messages say 'No usable GPU found'. Sorry, there is one, I crunched some WU's under windows. (Onboard Graphic Chip)

I have no idea where to look or what to do. ATI CCC is installed.

Any hints?

Hi Claggy,

I followed your instructions.

Unfortunatelly the log-file cannot be copied, so I write the important part.

NVIDIA GPU is found, driver ver 25919, CUDA ver 3010, cc 2.1
Collatz Conjecture found app_info.xml
General prefs: using defaults
[sched_op_debug] CPU work request 0.00 sec; 0.00 CPU's
NVIDIA GPU work request 859.71 sec; 0.00 GPU's
ATI GPU work request 0.00 sec, 0.00 GPU's

I got several messages saying No work sent.
3 hours later the request was: NVIDIA GPU work request: 105486.12 sec; 1.00 GPU's.

It's interesting that it started with 0 GPU's and ended with 1 GPU's.

Then I checked my settings regarding resource share and work buffer. I increased both values; that helped.

Now I do get wu's.

Claggy, your hint was very useful. Thank you.

Good news!

I downloaded and installed the 2.05 version.
I got the message got 0 new tasks. No work sent.

I downloaded and installed the 2.04 version.
I got the same messages.

But there is no message why I do not get new work. Currently there is no other cuda app running.
I tried to reset the app. After a while I got two 2.03 wu's.

I found a note on the main page that driver 257.21 or higher is required; I use 259.19

Has anyone an idea what I could check?

THX for the answer.
I should have been more precise.
I use two systems, one with 2 ati-gpu's, which crunches collatz and milkyway.
The other system got a GTX460. I want to crunch collatz there, but not on the ati-gup in this system. This is why I asked for an app_info.

I tried to modify on which was posted here in the forum. But it does not look like its working.

<app_info>
<app>

</app>

<file_info>

<executable/>
</file_info>
<file_info>

<executable/>
</file_info>

<app_version>
<app_name>collatz</app_name>
<version_num>203</version_num>
<plan_class>cuda</plan_class>
<avg_ncpus>0.013</avg_ncpus>
<max_ncpus>1</max_ncpus>
<flops>1.0e11</flops>
<coproc>
<type>CUDA</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>
<cmdline>L13 I8 S1</cmdline>
<file_ref>
<file_name>collatz_2.03_windows_x86_64__cuda23.exe</file_name>
<main_program/>
</file_ref>
<file_ref>
<file_name>cudart_CUDA23.dll</file_name>
</file_ref>
</app_version>

</app_info>

Maybe it's because cutil.dll id not in the app_info, but thats the same as in the other app_info, which I took as source.

Can anyone help please?

Hi everybody,

I have an older nVidia gpu which can crunch the cuda23 app. But I don't want to get wu's for the ati, so I need a app_info.xml.
I've searched the forum but found only infos for fermi cards, linux or ati-cards.
Has anyone a xml ready for that purpose or can someone help?

Kind regards
Alexander
