Also, consider a program like TThrottle to keep things under control:

2) Message boards : Windows : W10 Fall edition update issue... (Message 24409)

Just a heads-up.

I did a forced update of win10 from ver 1703 to 1709. It broke my ability to have the Gigabyte 1080 process Collatz WUs. The CPU (i7-6700K and 32 GB ram) was fine, but the GPU was getting 0 work. All the usual suspects were tried and they failed to fix the issue. Only a roll-back to version 1703 (build 15063.674) made life good again.

Hopefully when MS rolls this out to all, the "issue" will have been fixed.

Before I experiment, can anyone provide some guidance on whether it is better to run two GTX-1070s independently or connect them via SLI. I suspect separate is better.

Thanks for any and all input.

Thanks,

Before I tried that, I was able to fix my problem. I removed all the projects from Boinc on that PC. Then uninstalled Boinc. Ran CCleaner. Rebooted. Installed Boinc. Attached to Collatz... And, all is good now.

Hi step2000,

Thanks. But, links on what main page? Collatz forum? Boinc?

All help is appreciated.

In one of my PCs I just upgraded the GPU from a Gigabyte GV-R929XOC-4GD to a Gigabyte GTX-1080. In the Event log I see that I'm requesting new tasks for NVIDIA GPU. But I get the response "Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks".

The new GPU runs PrimeGrid GPU tasks just fine.

Is there some time period that needs to elapse before I get Nvidia tasks?

I tried resetting the project, also removing and then reattaching, but no luck.

It's kind of sad to see the new 1080 sitting there idle -- no fans spinning.

All help is appreciated.

Wow, not single reply.

Not to worry -- I'll simply move my machines to other more friendly projects.

Bye.

I have recently added a new machine with a Nvidia GTX980 card to my collection of hardware. At first I thought that it was an Nvidia driver 364.51 driver bug. I backed out to 362.00 -- but, still no joy.

The new machine processes an Nivida Collatz Sieve 1.21 in about 1.30 minutes.

Why does my request for new WUs always come back with a request and 0 sent?

Barry
