1) Message boards : Number crunching : How to get Micro Collatz wu's? (Message 21194)
Posted 867 days ago by Bok
I've never managed to get one even though server status shows some being available.

Is it only android and raspberry Pi ones available? Apps say it's available for windows and linux cpu too.

The server limits them to anything that reports < 5mips or something like that. If you have a really old/slow PC that you want micro WUs to crunch, post the host id and I'll reconfigure the server so that it will be able to get micro WUs.

Hindsight be 20/20, I should have made the micro WUs default to unchecked so that unless someone specifically chooses to enable it, they wouldn't get work. What was happening prior to me having the server limit it via mips was that normal PCs were grabbing thousands of the micro WUs and the android devices weren't getting any because the server couldn't keep up with making them.

This is a hexcore xeon, would hope it's fast enough :) - http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/show_host_detail.php?hostid=394734

EDIT - re-read, I understand what you mean now, not to worry, don't have any slower machines up and running any more.

Major (actual) badge must replace all previous badges (maybe).

Asteroids@Home do a similar thing in that you 'accumulate' the badges instead of getting only one.

I think I prefer just one as well, but everyone has different tastes.

I added it to my banner as cumulative which you can see here. Works for all users.

Is it finalized then? Based on credit.

If so I'll add to my database. Can build them direct from the data I already hold.
5) Message boards : Number crunching : Suddenly I have a new CPID for this project (Message 5700)
Posted 2920 days ago by Bok
One of the other issues here was that Leavitron reported that the exported file had a different cpid for him than what was displayed on his page when logged in here. I'd not seen that before but could not verify it, thought it might just be a caching issue.

6) Message boards : Number crunching : Proposed new BOINC credit system (Message 3510)
Posted 2992 days ago by Bok

I think you missed something. Have you read the proposal? The new credit system would be built into BOINC. If your project uses BOINC then you are forced into using the new credit system. That is why the talk turned to whether or not to use BOINC.

I'm not sure that's strictly true. I may be wrong, but the way I read some of the posts was that it's just going to be the new
default for calculating credit. Projects can still do it their own way if they want.

Again, I could be wrong..

probably not I would have thought given they were looking for GLIBC 3.4.9 ?

Hopefully Rom will release the 6.10.11 in the next few days as I see you've asked on the mailing lists

looks like it's working now...updated to 6.10.6

I see that bug in 6.10.6 where it starts one, then halts it and starts all the others in sequence, though that's nothing to worry about I guess. When they release a new linux client I'll update it again.

Thanks for your help !

yup. That's where I unpacked it.

I'll upgrade boinc now and see what happens.

yes, then copied it to /usr/lib64 and redid the symlink for libcudart.so.2 pointing it to /usr/lib64/

Crunch3r,

any thoughts on my dilemma ?

I've updated to CentOS 5.3, but it sill only contains gcc 4.1.x and it appears 4.2 is required.

I could compile 4.2 I guess but I'm trying to stick within standard updates on that particular box if possible.

Can the app be compiled with 4.1?

still can't seem to get it to work as I don't see an update for libc.

[root@dual270 boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz]# rpm -q gcc
gcc-4.1.2-44.el5
[root@dual270 boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz]# strings /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6|grep -i glibcxx
GLIBCXX_3.4
GLIBCXX_3.4.1
GLIBCXX_3.4.2
GLIBCXX_3.4.3
GLIBCXX_3.4.4
GLIBCXX_3.4.5
GLIBCXX_3.4.6
GLIBCXX_3.4.7
GLIBCXX_3.4.8
GLIBCXX_FORCE_NEW

Any chance of getting a version compiled that would work here?

I've got the cuda drivers updated now.
16) Message boards : Number crunching : Linux CUDA Application Installation (Message 2391)
Posted 3031 days ago by Bok
hmm, I don't have a libcudart.so.2.2 anywhere on the box. Just libcudart.so.2

[root@dual270 /]# find . -name libcuda*
./usr/lib/libcuda.so.180.22
./usr/lib/libcuda.so
./usr/lib/libcuda.so.1
./usr/lib64/libcuda.so.180.22
./usr/lib64/libcudart.so.2
./usr/lib64/libcuda.so
./usr/lib64/libcuda.so.1

Is that cuda driver too old ? I'm running a full update right now, then I can put a newer cuda driver on I guess.

granted, those tasks were from prior to modifying the app_info.xml.

It now tries and fails to download libcudart.so.2 saying there is no url for it.

So, copied in a lubcudart.so.2 from another project and it now downloads tasks but gets the output file is absent error.

I'll check the logs.

so, there is a minimum glibc level ? This is a base CentOS 5 installation, cruncher only so I haven't upgraded it in a while.

I've tried running this on a CentOS 64bit machine, ldd indicated everything was found but it did not download any cuda wu's. It did however download 4 cpu tasks even though I have cpu set to N in the preferences ?

Each boinc project has a different color in the stats and I've tried to align all the stats sites together by assigning new ones and keeping the list up to date..

Choose one from here and I'll get it assigned.
